Why are women more fatigued than men? The roles of stress, sleep, and repetitive negative thinking, 2025, Golmohamadi et al

Yeah it’s a mystery why women with monthly hormone fluctuations and associated energy expenditure not to mention additional financial costs and reduced safety and near guaranteed sexual assault, should by their 20s be more fatigued. Fatigue, as we know, is caused by repeated negative thoughts...

    Pacing and pace up

Would it be worth sticking with the English word “pacing” purely because it’s used in literature a lot?

UK: PIP appeals - advice, recommendations?

This is really good, I wish I’d seen it before my tribunal. I have never had an assessment though.

United Kingdom: Dr Suzanne O’Sullivan (BPS neurologist)

Yes, I bet the BPS would think themselves superior yet they’re basically the same. Believe you are better and you are better.

United Kingdom: Dr Suzanne O’Sullivan (BPS neurologist)

Don’t certain religions cure you, if you pay, sorry pray hard enough? Is that the same as what the nice neurologist is proposing?

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2024 and 2025

They told me the same thing. However they apparently have a legal duty to carry out the assessment. You would need to push for it, it seems their first line of defence is to put you off. edit I see others have said this!

Caffeine against persistent fatigue in long-COVID: a randomized clinical trial, 2025, Cardoso

As rightly pointed out, any stimulant will erm, stimulate you. Interested to see if they repeat the study but with amphetamines:p

Caffeine against persistent fatigue in long-COVID: a randomized clinical trial, 2025, Cardoso

I did 3 years without caffeine. It didn’t help. I now take 100mg when I wake up and it’s really helped me. Just my experience but I don’t think it needs to be vilified if it doesn’t cause you harm.

Are there any health advantages to long-term immobility?

Unpopular opinion but I found Mr Moseley very smug and annoying in his tv programmes. Whilst I’d never wish any bad fortune on him, I do think he may have thought he should take a long walk home on his holiday “because exercise is good” sadly he never made it. Taking a taxi may well have...

    Fight and Flight ?!?

I do think you’d have to ask those who say it what exactly they mean. Not being pedantic - you’d have to ask them and I think they would just come out with something off the top of their head. As you say it’s “accepted” and littered throughout research. Is it just a lazy way of saying stress...

    Fight and Flight ?!?

Not quite the same thing but ME/CFS skeptic did a piece on “boom or bust” research, you may find interesting https://mecfsskeptic.com/boom-and-bust-another-me-cfs-myth/

    Fight and Flight ?!?

I believe it’s “fight, flight, freeze or fawn’ it’s in reaction to an aggressor (like a bear) I don’t have any sources I just find it unusual how it’s morphed into an either/or fight/flight.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2024 and 2025

I am looking around social media and there’s an unsurprising amount of campaigning and organising going 9n, not least several legal challenges to the green paper changes, and FOI requests for the data which proves how many people will lose out/what disorders they have etc. I know something was...

Identifying and renaming inaccurate, inappropriate or minimising words, phrases, etc. in ME/CFS

I always go on about this, but I thing the fatigue/tired/pacing “do 50% less” energy envelope type of language makes it easy for a non-ME person to start from their own viewpoint. They imagine themselves as tired/doing pacing etc. They need to start from a point of pain and inability, not “what...

Identifying and renaming inaccurate, inappropriate or minimising words, phrases, etc. in ME/CFS

It’s not “enough” of an explanation but it’s a start if you’re discussing with a generic non-ME type who thinks you can “just try” a bit of x y z. How much of their day can they achieve spending most of it lying down in silence? They take for granted being sat up or standing, let alone seeing...

Responding to a deleted post If I’m not lying down in silence, I’m exerting.

Yes - we don’t have any agency, it’s not us doing something wrong, it’s our only option to survive!
