The Netherlands - €28.5 million ME/CFS research program - ZonMW funding awards announced April 2023

People are debating who this person is, but I can't actually see what the proposed/funded projects are (unless I've missed them). What has Rosmalen been funded to *do*?

Typing myalgic encephalomyelitis by infection at onset: A DecodeME study, 2023, Bretherick et al

I'm putting together a few comments on the paper. I will submit to the journal but they prefer comments to come from people with an affiliation, so they may not publish. But I noted the CMRC/MERC + its PAG are not thanked in the Acknowledgements. They should be. Stephen did a lot behind the...

@Andy Can you say where this is submitted, or not? I do hope you're going for a leading / high-impact journal.

The biopsychosocial model: Its use and abuse 2023 Roberts

This is a good assessment of the BPS model, but it also reveals why critiques of it have to be properly thought out—otherwise you'll be denying something that probably is true to some degree.

Efficacy and tolerability of an endogenous metabolic modulator (AXA1125) in fatigue-predominant long COVID: a single-centre, double-blind, randomised

I'm not familiar with this: τPCr-measure of mitochondrial respiration Has this been used in ME/CFS research?

Efficacy and tolerability of an endogenous metabolic modulator (AXA1125) in fatigue-predominant long COVID: a single-centre, double-blind, randomised

I would be very surprised if a blend of amino acids does anything significant. Only significant result is based on subjective outcome (Chalder Fatigue Scale), but of course this study is placebo-controlled. Some of these amino acids can be used to affect mood, so perhaps that is playing a role.

Research funding: Examples needed of ME research projects failing due to not getting funding

I think to get any relevant links, your question needs to be more precise. Are you interested in only ME/CFS research? Biomedical only, or all ME/CFS research? In the UK, or worldwide? Still, I don't quite understand your question. It seems what you want is a list of research proposals that...

Closed UK: DecodeME updates, was recruitment thread.

I'm a little dissaspointed by the numbers. It seems we're likely stuck around 10k for DNA samples, far shy of the 25k goal. IMO, it is important to patients because every extra patient adds power to the study. Personally, I would like to know what the project leaders and researchers think...

UK: All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on ME news, 2020 onward

Not sure if you are aware, but, according to a post I saw on Twitter earlier, the AGM meeting has been postponed. Not sure of the source for that info. EDIT: The source is an MEA Facebook post.

    Research news from Bhupesh Prusty

I agree. His tweets are often quite strange. Also, you can't just up sticks and move a research group, unless you have won a transferrable grant or fellowship, which I don't think he has. He's probably fed up with chasing grant money, as most early-career researchers are.

Closed UK: DecodeME updates, was recruitment thread.

I tweeted this yesterday, and I'm sharing because I think it's important. @Andy would you or someone from DecodeME be able to raise this with the MEA?
