[Sorry, this is straight copy-and-paste, and I'm not sure why everything needs to be in caps]

    PRACTICE RECOMMENDATIONS

› AVOID USING STIGMATIZING TERMINOLOGY (EG, ADDING THE PREFIX “PSEUDO” OR THE ADJECTIVE “HYSTERICAL”) TO CHARACTERIZE A SUSPECTED FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER (FND) OR A MEDICALLY UNEXPLAINED DISORDER. C

› REFRAIN FROM ORDERING FUNCTIONAL MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING AS PART OF THE ROUTINE EVALUATION OF SUSPECTED FND. C

› VALIDATE THE PATIENT‘S CONCERNS WITH AN APPROPRIATE DIAGNOSTIC LABEL; USE LAYMAN’S TERMS TO DISCUSS THE DIAGNOSTIC PARAMETERS OF FND AND THE CAUSE OF SYMPTOMS; AND EMPHASIZE TREATMENT POSSIBILITIES AND PLANS. C

    STRENGTH OF RECOMMENDATION (SOR)

    A GOOD-QUALITY PATIENT-ORIENTED EVIDENCE
    B INCONSISTENT OR LIMITED-QUALITY PATIENT-ORIENTED EVIDENCE
C CONSENSUS, USUAL PRACTICE, OPINION, DISEASE-ORIENTED EVIDENCE, CASE SERIES

Perhaps it should be a requirement for all psychosomatic based papers to be published in all caps it seems very appropriate.......:sneaky:

If you have neurological symptoms you should have an MRI. It has revolutionised the early diagnosis of MS and is vitally important because there are treatments which reduce the number or attacks and the risk of permanent disability. In the days before routine MRI patients with MS were not diagnosed until they were very ill and disabled mainly because it was put down to hysteria and its namesake "depression and anxiety"

This is a direct consequence of their dreadful "FND is no longer a disease of exclusion". Watching this car crash of a diagnosis take over modern medicine has been horrendous and seeing innocent victims happily believing they are being treated is heart breaking.

Thanks God, although the last open access paper on FND (which I had printed out then) was absolutely without any content.

another paper on how to lie to your patient . how the hell is this acceptable i guess ethics where thrown out with science in order to reduce costs supposedly .the real cost in harm and lives lost of course go uncounted . until the law actually catches up with gross fraud in academic and psuedoscientific publishing no one will ever face consequences of their actions .
