Yesterday, I was talking supplements with someone who said I shouldn't take calcium unless I am testing regularly as you can have too much. I replied that if I don't take it my levels drop below range. Then they asked if I had parathyroid issues to which I said no one ever said I did.

I have since been looking over all the historical test results and starting to worry about it now.

This morning happened to be my endocrinologist appointment and I asked about it. His initial response to my results was that taking calcium was definitely the right choice and that's how it was treated anyway. Of course, if I have a problem, I want that on my medical records.

So, he is sending my GP a letter instructing her what to test. I am to stop taking my calcium supplements until I have the blood test then restart them immediately.

I have, of course, been on google and scared myself. I have struggled so much trying to be as well as possible and now I am going to temporarily do something that may make things worse. That's scary and I don't know what is a reasonable amount of anxiety so worrying more!

Also, I have had this for an unknown amount of years (this as in whatever is going on with my calcium). My blood test records only go back to 2022... for adjusted calcium it's a flat line until September 2023 when I had online access to look. I worried about my bones and started tablets on my own which I have taken since. My calcium has been tested several times as part of wider investigations into my health. Last test was July 2024 and it was trending downward.

Does anyone know anything that I need to know? What to say to the GP and all that?
