My award was due to end July this year. I received notification of an extension until April 2022. However, I have heard anecdotally that some have received an extension then shortly after received renewal forms.
I take tramadol and over the counter paracetamol on an (as needed) occasional basis. Doesn't control pain, just diminishes it to a more bearable level. Flu like aches, muscle and joint pain are constant symptoms.

I agree, unfortunately the concept and definitions of PEM is too open to interpretation, and in certain circles PEM is seen as the only definitive symptom of ME. So "malaise after exertion" becomes ME, disregarding all other symptoms.
There is a survey on Pheonix Rising which gives gives information on negative or positive diagnosis for each surgeon. However,I don't think it says whether surgery is recommended
