Effect of COVID-19 vaccination and SARS-CoV-2 infection status on mortality risk in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 2026, Kim+

I am still wondering whether my caree's improvement is in any way related to the Covid vaccines, or whether the timing was just coincidence.

Let's talk wheelchairs and mobility scooters

They said something about it being illegal in London, but legal in other parts of the country? I'm not sure that's true, as in London we have various areas where at least "one wheel on, one wheel off kerb" signs are posted. We were stuck behind someone in a very small powered...

Why is showering so PEM/OI inducing

I always assumed it was down to the stress/strain of having to hold yourself upright and under/away from the water, and maybe getting your body into positions where the water can actually wash away the soap. Maybe also having to manoeuvre in a tight space? I mean, I don't have ME, but I still...

The feeling of being "poisoned" - what do we know about it?

But isn't this just another factor backing up the theory of ME/CFS being caused by the immune system's reaction to a virus or whatever not shutting off once the infection has passed? You get a new infection, the immune system wakes up again, but this time does - at least to some extent - shut...

Translating S4ME Fact Sheets into French

Sorry, I've only just spotted this. First of all, thank you to the members who have spent so much time and effort on this - wow, what a lot of words it is! I'm not used to reading this sort of material in French, so don't know how much I can contribute, but still, a few thoughts: I wondered...

    Fragrance-free products

Ugh, I know, it was disgusting (probably still is, but I don't need to bother any more). The smell used to attach itself to my trousers!

Japan declares a flu epidemic — what this means for other nations

Oh great - on both counts :( Not even any anosmia? That's my first check for Covid.

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

My caree's just had both together. I'll report back - if there's anything to report.

The health and economic burden on family caregivers of persons with me/cfs diagnosis: a register data study from Norway, 2025, Kielland et al

I think I'd have said "reinforcing traditional gender roles". But I have every respect for anyone who, while not having English as their mother tongue, can write a scientific paper in it. I only wish I could do the equivalent. Absolutely. Bearing in mind my experiences, anything which can...

BBC World Service programme on senses - woman who lost balance when closed eyes, etc.

Just found this thread while posting another one. Isn't it fairly normal for people to lose their balance when they close their eyes? I thought it was.

"Virologist Dr Chris van Tulleken embarks on a global investigation into the hunt for the pathogen that could trigger the next pandemic and the cutting-edge science developed to tackle it. Known only as ‘Disease X’, it is shrouded in uncertainty. Its origin is unknown, how it could spread is...

    Question re PIP and UC

I thought the PASS card was to prove your age in pubs and so on? I'm not sure whether you can apply for it once you're past your mid-20s - not sure whether Saz is or not.

    Question re PIP and UC

Mine was PIP. Talking about ID, I wonder if those photo ID cards you can get to allow you to vote will count too, now? And I also thought I started a thread on here somewhere about PIP and our struggle to get it, but I couldn't find it when I looked earlier.
