There is currently a separate procedure document for staff. But I could not find where the 2019 document I have posted upthread for members lives on the MEA's website as it is not listed where you might expect to find it.

 

It’s a bit antiquated to be honest, these days you’d just have grievance for employees and complaints for everyone else.

 

Indeed. It's a revision of their 2006 document. Whether they have a more recent iteration than the 2019 version somewhere on the site, I don't know. I can't find one. But you can't find the location of the 2019 version, either.

But you can't find it.

 

Can anyone give me a link to the MEA's latest annual report, chairman's report, or whatever they call it, please?

Will a new one come out at today's meeting?

These are the questions I have submitted to the ME Association trustees ahead of the AGM. I am grateful to have received confirmation that these questions have been received and will be responded to.

The are signs of change being discussed about the @MEAssociation AGM, but we are nearly 1 hour in and are still doing introductions. I remember the adage - change either happens very fast or never.

I think it is the first time they actually have to listen to feedback and respond! Clearly not used to running a meeting with external stakeholders and the transparency it needs.

Nah, the chairman is still busy mostly not replying to the actual questions. He may be trying, but somehow I sense a disconnect. Not sure is it only me?

 

Thanks for that, I hadn't been able to see the questions because I'm not an X member.

 

I've asked: Has the board said whether it intends to post a recording for membership and non members?

all the best and hope they succeed, but it really needs to embrace change and be super careful about comms

Isn't that a bit like Boris Johnson saying he wished he'd never said Long Covid was GWS bollocks?

 

It wouldn't need to be super careful about comms if it actually understood the issues.

Homeless charities don't have to take care not to publish disparaging, patronising and tone deaf editorials about unhoused people, because it would never occur to them to write them in the first place.

 

So presumably the MEA are treating today’s meeting as a constitutional AGM?

 

He did publish a very similar one that got terrible reception previously and was well aware, by the sentences written, that this would sometimes too.

As a non member, I wasn't permitted to observe via Zoom and I don't know yet whether anyone raised the unconstitutional status of this meeting from the floor.

Edited to add: In retrospect, it would have been worth investing £18 for the privilege. I could have gone as my husband's or son's proxy, had they been members.

and I have just attended and spoken about our motion/plan at the AGM. We will be issuing a proper response on our website (http://motionmea.wordpress.com) in the coming days. For now we are very disappointed at lack of clear plan from the
@MEAssociation

The Chair, with support from other trustees, successfully played the victim / misunderstood editorial writer card. The meeting ended with with platitudes. We want a clear plan, with deadlines, to professionalise the organisation. A plan that doesn't rely on exhausted sick people forcing the MEA to do the sensible thing. We appreciate and thank everyone for taking part in an exhausting meeting, unnecessarily long in our view. In particular

who spoke about other areas of controversy at the MEA.

The tone from Neil Riley was sacharine sweet. It felt like a deliberate strategy to disarm their critics. Personally, I dislike having smoke blown up my arse. Regarding the substance: good that the MEA have committed to spending their money, but the trustees want to cling on.
