About ME/CFS

ME/CFS is a serious debilitating chronic physical illness, often apparently triggered by an infection. There are no proven treatments. Symptoms may include muscle weakness, pain, fatigue and problems with thinking, sitting, standing and daily activities. A core feature is post-exertional malaise, a reaction to exertion that results in episodes of worse symptoms and loss of function that can last days, weeks or longer. Many people with ME/CFS are unable to work or study, and the most severely affected are bedridden.
