Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I've noticed a lot of homemade cotton masks now being offered on Ebay for about £5-10 including postage. These include the type where you can insert a filter.

    ME severity scales - discussion

it struck me when reading the 'frailty' scale for assessing elderly patients that the 'mild', 'moderate' and 'severe' frailty descriptions seem very similar to the NHS mild, moderate and severe CFS/ME ranges. I think this shows how using these terminologies (mild, moderate, severe) to describe a...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

The response you get will depend on your GP. My practice has been very bad in this regard despite me having severe asthma. I've been trying to get them to ensure I get a letter with my own name and address on it, because the national NHS trawl seems to have directed my shielding letter to my...

Advice on mask-wearing to protect against Covid-19

It's probably no longer usable as medical level PPE due to the date of manufacture. Maybe write the expiry date on it with a permanent pen so that others can see that.

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

As above @DigitalDrifter , when my daughter phoned Tesco for me she was asked if she 'lived near me' (she doesn't). They are assuming anyone making a phone call on behalf of another is therefore able to help them, your carer needs to make it clear that they are unable to shop for you.

Covid-19 - rationing of medical care

Is there any evidence that 'frailty' is comparable to the functional restrictions that result from M.E.? I would have thought that the warning this scoring system gives that 'special consideration should be given' would apply to PWME:

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

The figure for overcrowded homes is likely to be much higher in reality (by most people's understanding of the term). My council house would officially only be considered to be overcrowded after the living room has been used by 2 adults as an 'additional bedroom'. That would leave only the...

Tesco now have priority slots available in my area for every day next week. So I'm assuming they are going to add these once a week (possibly more often but only 7 days ahead). I would definitely recommend getting added to their priority list if anyone is still struggling to get online deliveries.

You are advised to be careful, but only the subgroup got letters advising not going to work. My letter (I have severe asthma) went to my daughter, as my 'named carer'. It stated it could be used as evidence to show an employer for getting time off work. I've been trying to get my GP practice to...

They could use their tannoy system to make regular customer announcements to remind both staff and customers of the need to be keeping a minimum of 2 metres (3 steps) between themselves and others. They're quick enough to use these systems to 'encourage' customers to buy more (highlighting...

I'd personally advise anyone with any kind of lung/heart/respiratory problem/diabetes or other significant health problem, to try to shield themselves. One of the Teaching Assistants in my daughter's school is in an induced coma in ICU because of contracting the virus. Most likely the infection...

I've been given 'priority delivery' access by Tesco now. They told my daughter that it would still be difficult to get a slot because so many people have signed up to this service. There are currently no slots available in either the normal or the priority delivery options in my area. I hope...

    Coronavirus: Advice from ME organisations

I put this link in the 'Living with autism and M.E.' thread. Are any of the M.E. charities producing something similar for PWME? I'm not up to this myself, but if not, maybe someone can send them the link and ask them to create a Coronavirus Individual Healthcare Action Plan for PWME...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

In the UK we already have a massive shortage of care workers and community social care as a system is completely broken (it's been underfunded for decades, but now local councils are unable to meet their statutory obligations to those legally eligible for social care).

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I'd like them to count the number of deaths of all key workers by sector, including the lowest paid. I'd hope this would lead to a long term (as opposed to time limited) change in how we as a society value these individuals - including how we financially reward them.

Dr Bharat Pankhania was the chap I'd been listening to on Talk Radio. They only seemed to have him on in the early hours of the morning though, not the prime time programmes!

I haven't used Sainsbury's home delivery yet - does anyone know if you are able to amend an order once you've done the initial checkout, and if so, how far in advance before delivery is this allowed? Thanks.

My sister does this, and also cooks and freezes her dog's food this way. But I live on my own, so it's definitely not worth it. I used to use the plastic microwaveable containers for my and the cat's food (I make slow cooked chicken/liver/turkey for them) but I had to use so much washing up...

Yes, it's a mash pie, but with all the ingredients mixed together in the mash (not layered). You can make it just frying the onions/leeks in butter (do this on a low temperature). If using milk (only needed if you are cooking leeks with the onion) just use a splash or it makes the pie too 'wet'...
