My Sainsburys account is now allowing me to book a delivery slot, which must be due to them having cross-referenced me from the government list. The next 4 days have no available slots but the following 4 days have almost all of the slots available. It seems that Sainsburys are now only opening...
This just shows what life was like for all those 'benefit scroungers' before this crisis hit! It would have cost me more to get the bus into town (if I could have walked the 2 miles to the nearest bus stop) than it would have cost me to purchase the items I would have been entitled to from my...
The only item from this that I would normally buy (and then only occasionally) would be the baked beans (I eat these cold from the tin when in PEM). Of course, if I was in a state of absolute starvation I would eat all the items, but I'd have to be really desperate.
What is being proposed is battlefield triage. My eldest sister was a nurse for nearly 40 years. She joined the navy when she was 18 and specialised in Accident and Emergency from the time she originally finished her nursing qualifications. I recall her explaining her military training to me when...
For over 25 years I've blocked up my letter box and have a mail box on the side of the house or beside the front garden gates (whichever one works according to the property I've lived in). Originally I did this because I had a dog that attacked the mail, but still prefer this arrangement even...
I was thinking about Sainsburys being the supermarket that is at least trying to lead in helping all their vulnerable customers within their own limitations. For those of you who haven't visited a large Sainsburys store, something my out of town one offers (but not the smaller in town one) is...
Here is the letter that has been sent to patients and/or carers of patients on this government list:
https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/03/at-risk-patient-letter-march-2020.pdf
That was the message they sent to all their regular online delivery subscribers! They don't even offer 'Click and Collect' in Somerset. Apparently my nearest store that offers this is in Wales...
This is my message from Tesco today (as a online delivery plan subscriber):
But I'm assuming they are planning on using the 'shielding' list to judge who is vulnerable.
Not sure if this has already been posted, but this issue is starting to get media attention in the UK:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-52126735
They have also changed the official name of this group from the 'extremely vulnerable' to the 'shielded' group! So much for looking after society's most vulnerable members, which my MP has previously told me in relation to PIP, the government are very concerned to do!
Bah sucks - I've started to have visitors!
I have a lovely neighbour (next door but not the attached one) who I occasionally talk to if I happen to see her when I'm in the front garden. I happened to mention that my daughter had received the NHS 'shielding' letter as my carer. I don't mind...
I'm still waiting for Sainsburys to flag me up as vulnerable, so I may try your approach with them.
I noticed that they said they are going to cross-reference the government list with customers who have shopped with them in the past, but didn't specify whether these customers needed to have...
Regarding eggs - I've just amended my Tesco order, due for delivery tomorrow. The only eggs not out of stock are the South West produced ones:
https://steweeggs.com/
I usually buy this brand anyway, so was quite happy paying the higher price for premium free range eggs.
Sainsbury's took down their link to the site very quickly. I suspect the government suddenly started seeing the list increase dramatically, as many (yes, actual) vulnerable people quickly signed up.
The website given was provided on the letter the NHS sent to my daughter (as my carer), with the...
I think there are a few doctors and nurses living in my village, which is probably helping the information and advice that's being put out via the parish network. They cancelled all village and community activities even before the government banned 'large gatherings'.
Eggs seem to be available where I live, but that might be due to there being a lot produced locally. In my village the farmer leaves them on a wall with an 'honesty box' for payment. This was before the coronavirus, so I'm not sure if they've had to be more restrictive with them now.
Have you...
