Anyone else in the U.K. had a letter about a covid testing study?

I had a swab test. I had been using the ZOE Covid App to report daily symptoms, and they asked me to go. I was worried about the nasal swab, but in reality it was much easier than the throat swab. Honestly, I had no idea I could stick something so far up my nose!! Yet it was just weird. The...

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

This petition makes sense to me: Make Face Masks Mandatory In Indoor Public Spaces in the UK http://chng.it/cgD5SBcSj8 I think if everyone was asked to wear them we could greatly reduce transmission rates. I’ve signed.

Open The impact of food on cognition: Potential implications for brain fog in ME;24 June 2020 online

Not sure that would work Wonko. Cos then the unfed group would have been recently fed. Surely better to tell everyone to start from an empty stomach (3-4hours since food) situation. Edit to add: Perhaps there will be better instructions after sign-up??

Open The impact of food on cognition: Potential implications for brain fog in ME;24 June 2020 online

Oh! Okay! So what period do they all not eat for, prior to their meal or no meal situation? It really isn’t clearly worded!

Open The impact of food on cognition: Potential implications for brain fog in ME;24 June 2020 online

30 minute break with “no food” is hardly a “no food” situation! Most of whatever you ate 30mins ago will still be digesting! Surely a longer gap (say 3 hours or more) would be a more realistic “no food” situation. Half an hour after food would be “fed” in my view!

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

Yes. Scrubs are either worn in care-homes instead of regular clothing, or under PPE. Their advantage is that they can be hot washed. Bags are used to put used scrubs into, and they get washed with the scrubs. Masks are not medical grade, and can also be washed in a hot wash. My latest...

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I’m going to back to sewing masks again now. This time the lining fabric will be hemmed separately at the sides so an insert can be added if required. There is a local coordinating group here, so I can just drop the completed masks off when done. I’m not fast, as I just do a little at a time...

    UK: Physios for ME

Also “Boom and Bust” fails as a model, if the belief is that ME patients are just in need of re-conditioning. No-one when trying to get fit, aims to steadily increase each and every day. I mean if you were training for a maracycle, you would not move up the miles incrementally each day...

Lightning Process study in Norway - Given Ethics Approval February 2022

One has to wonder whether this has now become some sort of design feature for these trials? - Set up some apparently strong objective outcomes that would make the trial look fantastic if the outcome measure produced positive results. - When setting these objective outcomes, make sure in...

Funnily enough, that’s what I said too... in a slightly long winded way. :P

So, I did the survey too.... and may have been a tad verbose in my responses.... oopsie!

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

They had been holding a vine up in the green house!! My good man pruned the vine and salvaged the wire! I also did some masks with re-bent plastic coated paperclips.

Covid19 - Shielding and self-isolating for vulnerable people - policies and issues

Things could have been handled better. I also think sheilding is not practical, and that was surely always known. But having told the vulnerable population to do it, so it is now vulnerable folk’s responsibility to do it! Hmmmmm

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I’ve only made the one style. It fits quite closely - if the way the fabric puffs in and out as I breathe is anything to go by. In truth I’ve really never been out to use it. Groceries are delivered to the doorstep here, and although I’ve been out in the car, that was really just in my own bubble.

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

Interesting. Though of course these are bacterial colonies, so may not represent how good a mask is at stopping viral particles. Still it does demonstrate the point rather well. I wonder what the results would look like on repeating the exercise with a petri dish held to the side (ie where a...
