Managed to find a summary (not minutes) of the 2013 AGM noting the changes to the articles on the MEA website (don't think this has been shared here before, sorry if it has), but can't seem to find anything in the web archive for 2014 as yet...
Surely the whole point of documents being lodged with CH and the CC is to prevent the re-writing of history and changing things when circumstances mean a board doesn’t want to be bound by what was previously agreed?
And importantly, board members are collectively responsible for the charity...
So, the plot thickens;
I'm not even sure what any of this means now. They've tied themselves in such knots and are showing their utter unsuitability to be charity trustees.
ETA: How can they not know for 10 years(!) that the articles lodged with CH/CC are not what they thought they were? If...
I suspect they still hope they can ride it out.
Seeing the gushing comments on the Xmas card on FB, there are still many who aren’t aware of the shambles that is going on in the background and will support them unwaveringly, especially if they censor unsupportive posts there.
They will be...
Agreed, I’ve not been a huge fan of AfME at points, but they are light years head of the MEA right now and appear to be continuing to accelerate away from them. Their AGM was open to all and tackled some of the difficult stuff head on. That said, I hope they have looked on and learned something...
From all I have read of the AGM, it just reinforces my view that the MEA is a basket case, a lost cause.
Blame everyone else but themselves and the fact that the other trustees have (as suspected) rowed in behind Riley (one apparently saying his wife didn’t see anything wrong with the article)...
Update from those who submitted the motion;
https://motionmea.wordpress.com/response-to-me-association-public-statement/
My brain is not really up to processing all that it says, other than suggestiing that more people with ME need to get involved or words to that effect and doesn't go into...
Sorry, I don't receive it, told them where to stick their membership (metaphorically, by not renewing) a few years back.
Did have a quick scout around their website in case by some miracle they had shared any useful info, but of course, nada.
I clearly spend too much time online, but, as part of my rolling news service, the MEA has shared a further update regarding the motion put forward regarding governance;

Here it is;

All very reasonable, but with the length of service by most of the board, you can see why they might resist including it.
Re-reading this months missive from the keyboard of Mr Riley, I feel like he's putting one (or two) finger(s) up to those who have complained about his recent article and non-apology and who aren't MEA members. That's the only explanation I can see to the part that seems to be almost gushing...
What on earth is going on?
Does he honestly think that after the last few weeks their comms aren’t going to get questioned and shared? Especially on something as contentious as this motion?
All smacks of a Chair who thinks he can say/do what he wants and has got away with doing so for too long.
I think one of the Tweets from the MEA said Jo Platt was putting herself forward as chair, so, perhaps some of the reporting has put the cart slightly before the horse, but, assume its probably a done deal.
Morning all,
Just seen online that the APPG is back! New chair and hopefully new energy.

There is a link to the APPG website and text to write to your MP asking them to attend.

I wasn’t sure if I had dreamt seeing something saying MEA had said they were not going to comment further on the editorial, but stumbled across the Tweet again just now (reassured that my brain isn’t completely useless. Every cloud and all that);
“the Chairman has issued a statement and at...
Perhaps a by-product of such lengthy tenures is that they think things like the rules no longer apply, or they have just been able to get away with being a bit lax on things as there's not been much scrutiny to date and the members are just grateful for their existence and all their efforts...
