Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

Yes it works fine to clean. Sprayed on liberally squeezed so they absorb. Leave for few mins then wipe with wet cloth & allowed to dry. Maybe others will share how they wash theirs?

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

In case anyone happened to be interested I edited my post about washing them. Just washing mine & thinking what I wrote was possibly misleading. You could also wash 1 pair at a time while washing hands - but have some ready diluted soap to use because the sponge absorbs it & using it neat...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

@Utsikt I wipe the silicone tips for my Bose earbuds with a tissue soaked in this, which seems to work well without irritation. I havent tried it on the foam but I will & let you know how i get on. It's food safe & non toxic & kills bacteria & fingal spores. Not sure if you can get it in your...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

yes I'm not as sick as you. I just do it when i go to the bathroom, in the bathroom sink which is next to the toilet so i can sit down, it only takes a few seconds to run the water & put them in out of my dirty bag. But I get that you wouldnt be able to do even that. I was hoping you might be...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

do you wash them? I use clean ones only, then wait till I have 10 or so plugs & run a bowl of warm water with antibac soap (about 3 hand pumps of soap to about 1L of water) & rub them all together in the water & then leave them to soak in that for a few hrs. Then rinse multiple times until the...

Does anyone else get a runny nose, sneezing, coughing etc during PEM?

Yes plus swollen glands & a sore throat but like @Kitty not as sore as with a virally induced sore throat. Also sometimes I get a dry-but-deep barking cough which gets quite sore. But only for physically induced PEM & only at the start of the episode, lasts couple of days then disappears.

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Thanks @Trish yes it’s been an eye opener what takes it up that I didn’t expect. When you say rest your head on arms do you mean your arms on your knees like when feeling faint?

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Yes it’s interesting, I noticed my hr shoots up when I cry, some good sobbing for a few mins takes it up over 120. I not been angry yet (been using the monitor a wk) I trying to stay away from rage makers at moment as hot too much personal stress. But then being on my feet more than 3 mins...

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Thanks Trish. Yes this is what I’m hoping it will help me with… Im prone to ‘while Im here I’ll just’ & with the cognitive difficulties added in, I find it hard to remember not to override symptoms to do something that’s really needed, until the symptoms become overwhelming & force me to lie...

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Ok so those of you who use HR monitoring to help with pacing... how do you calculate what figure to set yr alerts at? I looked at the workwell recommendations here of 15bpm above average RHR.... but its hopeless. my ave rhr is 70 putting the alert at 85. It goes up to 90 just rolling over in...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2024 and 2025

From this article on the benefits and work website Yikes, does anyone know anything about this???!! I hadnt heard of it. I've been on CB ESA since approx 2012 without any income related component. I hope they're not planning to scrap it/make it time limited. Does anyone know where I can...

It’s straight out of the playbook from when they scrapped Incapacity Benefit in favour of ESA the rhetoric is identical.

Warnings against dangerous Miracle Mineral Solution (bleach, chlorine dioxide)

I'm with you broadly speaking @boolybooly - in terms of not imposing our belief systems. But I dont think her approach can be seen as 'if you're going to do it heres how you can do it without harming yourself', because the title of her page on it is 'Chlorine Dioxide a useful antifungal', and...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

My pleasure, nice to feel i am doing something useful  If you want to know more about how they actually work there is a link to a good explanation here And a final thing to be aware of is that when noise cancelling headphones get reviewed, they usually do so based on the overall...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

USB charger but the battery life is long (my NC700 pair last 17hrs I think) Yes they work even when not listening to music, but the term 'noise cancelling' is a bit misleading because it gives the impression that they get rid of all sound, but they dont. They were developed originally for...

Noise cancelling headphones! Oh Joy! (and other ways to block sound)

Yes they do. I have definitely read that some people cant use because of it. I think it's due to the pressure or something? Pretty sure there are comments on this thread saying so, I think I remember Ravn having that issue, you might try searching the thread for their posts? I dont want to tag...

DWP assessor reveals 'sneaky' tricks used in PIP exam such as chair choice test

wow they need to change that to 'no award' - it's obviously an error in the audio transcipt but yeesh, it's no 'reward'? PEople who dont know that successful claimants are given an 'award', will think that their ignorance is correct - ie that people on PIP are getting a nice cushy financial...
