Apparently, we wouldn't have got a number of the developments in medical tech that we've had over the past few decades without Star Trek.
(Jo, I hate to tell you, but it was a salt cellar :D)
Benefits and Work is well worth investing in - I don't know how we would have managed without it. (But then we live in an area where there is virtually no other support at all. Among my 2019 documents I have an Excel file called Find_an_Adviser_GOV_UK_flat_file_v1, so I assume that if you look...
Great, thanks very much, OrganicChilli. That's some effort.
It's 2 am, so I may not be entirely with it, but I only spotted a few very minor things:
- a couple of headings needing a hyphen between "PEM" and what follows
- "Der Begriff „Anstrengung“ im Ausdruck post-exertionelle Malaise...
I guess a lot of public buildings were built in the days before accessibility was a consideration, and their purposes may have changed over the decades, but yes, I do agree.
Hmm. Initial feedback from colleagues suggests that even the output from specialist software might need considerable cleaning up (that was for English - she didn't know specifically about French). From the little I watched, it did sound very clear, at least - but I'm wondering how...
I could do that, I imagine. Can you give me more context, especially on the level of technicality? Although @hotblack is right, and I was about to say the same:
Reports I've seen suggest that 1 minute of audio would take about 7 minutes to transcribe, so it would certainly be useful if that...
Being at the top of a high-rise block will only make matters worse, of course. When we were living in a first-floor flat (and even now we're in a house) the temperature difference between the ground floor and first floor (note to US readers: UK usage here!) was very noticeable. If you're on...
Coming very late to this, but I'm glad to see discussion on terminology: we certainly don't want to be inventing new terms if reasonably established ones already exist. The illness may not be officially recognised in France, but what about Canada / Switzerland / Belgium etc.?
Doesn't this...
I'd missed out on the existence of the German translation entirely, but this sentence has bugged me in both the French and German versions. Doesn't it imply that the result of that approach would be to get the patient back to a normal level? The English, I think, has "attempt to" or something...
Hoarseness is apparently a new symptom for the new strain:

Particularly since, wasn't the same policy being applied when the Conservatives were in government? But I'm afraid this is typical both of the Telegraph and MSN clickbait these days :(
Our nearest assessment venue was - we were told - not wheelchair accessible as the rooms were up a flight of stairs. So instead we had to go rather further into London to another one which was - hence getting the cab. But I think that was probably a health-and-safety decision on their part...
Medical translation is something which should only be taken on by the very experienced: it is not an easy job - and cannot safely be done by AI, as it's a question of liability. Mind you, if you wanted to do that I could probably find you some starting points ...
Well, we've known for years that you are being assessed from the moment you arrive on the premises to the moment you leave - or possibly even any time you're within view of their CCTV cameras. And, since the DWP actually arranged for a cab to take us home (Addison Lee, if you're wondering), I...
Actually bought one of these, but not as easy to open as the demo version in the shop, which had presumably been opened and closed quite a few times (it contains a very strong spring). Agree that it can be quite tricky to get each tier fully open and engaged, though.
