    Use of antidepressants for/with ME/CFS?

I know of this study which shows that neuropathic pain improves with TCAs but not SSRIs. I suspect this is significant as to pharmacological treatment of ME/CFS symptoms.

Rules for interpreting the significance of IgM and IgG antibody titers

Hi @Hip, When I was asking about IgG in another thread, @Aroa foind this for me in Naviaux’s work (https://www.omf.ngo/2016/09/09/upda...-fatigue-syndrome-q-a-with-robert-naviaux-md/, question 11): I’m interested in IgG because my daughter’s tetanus toxoid IgG increases with histamine...

Obesity in adolescents with chronic fatigue syndrome: an observational study, 2016, Norris et al

They used CDC and NICE (ie. “adolescents reported by their mothers to have experienced fatigue lasting >6 months that was associated with absence from full-time school or that had prevented them from taking part in activities ‘quite a lot’ or ‘a great deal’.“) and speculated that the obesity was...

Obesity in adolescents with chronic fatigue syndrome: an observational study, 2016, Norris et al

some PwME seem to struggle with obesity, whereas others can’t seem to maintain a healthy weight and are clinically underweight. I wonder what the factors are that might lead to that?

Webinar - ME/CFS Involves Brain Inflammation: Results from a Ramsay Pilot Study - Jarred Younger

My understanding is that body temperature is set by the hypothalamus in response to various triggers, including immune response.

Here is the full paper: https://dacemirror.sci-hub.tw/journal-article/ebbbfdfc7a38c456b049f8639bbbdc05/engelmann2004.pdf It describes an experiment where rats were subjected to a psychological stressor (social defeat) and a physiological stressor (drowning) and compared their PVN response. The...

A compromised paraventricular nucleus within a dysfunctional hypothalamus: A novel neuroinflammatory paradigm for ME/CFS, 2018, Mackay, Tate.

This is my theory of ME/CFS. The PVN is involved in physiological stress responses, as evidenced in this old study: The hypothalamic–neurohypophysial system regulates the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis under stress: An old concept revisited Mario Engelmanna, Rainer Landgrafb, Carsten T...

The prevalence and treatment of health anxiety in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) - Jo Daniels 2018

My first issue with this study is that the secondary aim: is predicated on the expectation that health anxiety will be found in the CFS sample. This shows the researchers are biased.

I just don’t know which part of my daughter’s personality is related to ME and which part is related to her being a Virgo. It is so confusing. Especially because she was only 5, and was always very neat with the crayons.

    Guardian 'diabetes is biopsychosocial'

Hypothalamus = brain = BPS to a psychiatrist I think that is the bottom line. But I just don’t think there is any evidence that conscious thought can influence chemical processes, anywhere in the body. Is there?

Dimensional Personality Assessment among a CFS sample with Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), 2018, Calvo et al.

I think perseveration would be diagnosed as such: “Every time I eat <insert activity>, my <symptom/s> start...” “Now that is not possible, let’s talk about your distant/non-existent/forgotten childhood trauma...” “No, my <symptom/s> start when I <insert activity>”. Done.

How does emotional stress lead to inflammation?

I am so pleased to read your post @Jonathan Edwards. It makes no sense to me. And yet every slightly-less-scientific page I read (web, print, whatever) on inflammation notes that decreasing “stress” (emotional) helps reduce inflammation. I wondered for a long time if I was just not reading the...
