Impacts of the 2024 change in US government on ME/CFS and Long Covid

Or to the days which may not have happened yet, where everyone goes to carnival on their 30th birthday. Yes, it may be personally inconvenient, briefly, but think of all the people who are not liked, or whose policies are not liked, who stubbornly and willfully oppose everything not in their...

Effects of a plank-based strength training programme on muscle activation in patients with long COVID: a case series, 2024, Navarro-Lopez et al

An excise I have some experience with (you'd probably not be surprised at how few studies study deadlifting, squats etc in pwME). Beyond a tiny bit, if determined, progress is not possible in the plank, for anyone with a similar condition to mine. And that tiny bit is IMO solely down to...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I had mine today, no certificate and no idea what it was. On the plus side the person who inflicted it on me seemed happy that I had ME, as a reason for my having a higher priority shot anyway (at this point only higher risk people get free shots).

    ME & Metformin Use ?

I am also not a pharmacist but I have on metformin for several years. It did not do anything for ME. I came off it because I became intolerant of it, fairly significant gastric issues.

    Mpox, formerly called Monkeypox

I suspect that this is good news for me. I live in a household of one. The only person in my household that I could catch it from is me, and, based on symptoms, I probably don't have it. My closest/only physical interaction with anyone in the next several weeks will be with the pharmacist who...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2024 and 2025

But....I was under the impression...that according to the current government.....UC was unfit for purpose, and that it would be scrapped when they got into power, which they have now done. Diametrically opposed to the position they have now adopted, that UC is so fair and perfect that it should...

Crowdfunding for David Tuller starts October 1st 2024

Finally done. Only one donation this time round, only being 'paid' once a month on universal credit vs once every 2 weeks on ESA means I only have 'excess' money once a month, so I doubled my normal amount.

Is Health Research Taking the Wrong Path?

Surely if people, the majority of people, could control when they slept then that's the entire shopping TV market decimated, due to people not thinking what a wonderful idea something is at 4am? As for controlling when, what, or even if, people eat, then that's 80% of the western food...

    Hampshire and Isle of Wight

Do you think they know that the Isle of Wight is an island, separated from Hampshire by lots and lots of quite damp bits?

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I've only seen my new GP once, escorted by my sister, I've also attended hospital 3 times, also escorted by my sister as without her I wouldn't have been able to get there or navigate in the hospital. The GP, and the surgery, have been told that I am housebound, but ignored. I have only...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

As far as I am aware they are different. A few years back when I asked about a flu shot during a covide booster visit I was told that they had none for under 65s in, only ones for over 65s. Of course it could be that they reserve the ones for over 65s for over 65s and that they are the same...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I've got an appointment for the 8th of November to get my covid and flu shots. Annoyingly I am not well enough to try and get a home visit for them, even though going to get them will likely flatten me for several days. Oddly I still don't, as far as I know, fit in any of the official...

Post COVID-19 syndrome among 5248 healthcare workers in England: longitudinal findings from NHS CHECK, 2024, Dempsey et al

So....they chose to ignore/not collect pretty much all the important data and still come up with this report. A bit like a recipe for an omelette that not only doesn't mention eggs, butter and a pan but states that suggesting such things might be helpful is an indication of MH health problems...

Is Health Research Taking the Wrong Path?

I don't know why they stopped the research into naked brains, usually levitating, that was being promoted in poster and documentary form in the 50s. Obviously there would be issues with reproduction, but I'm sure any research facility that could figure out how to make levitating naked brains...

Petition: S4ME 2023 - Cochrane: Withdraw the harmful 2019 Exercise therapy for CFS review

Versioning systems have been around for donkeys years to solve precisely this problem. They've even been in the common office packages for ages, going all the way back to Lotus who I think had the first version in a general productivity suite, granted they went bust shortly after but.....other...

Impact of Spa Therapy on Symptoms and Quality of Life in Post-COVID-19 Patients with Chronic Conditions, 2024, Maria Costantino et al

Spa treatments did not do the ancient Romans any good, as they are all dead, probably. So it doesn't actually treat/cure anything, other than a shortage of Rollers amongst health care professionals and researchers. Much the same as a nice meal, it can make people feel better, but it cures...

    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in Pets

But....nothing to suggest mice with ME? As apparently positively loads of them have ME, so a study of pets with ME symptoms should have found loads of 'em. You'd think that in observing pets with ME symptoms they'd have looked at one pet which is stated to have ME, that is used in research to...
