Central Sensitization in Neurological, Psychiatric, and Pain Disorders: A Multicenter Case-Controlled Study, Suzuki et al, 2021

I clearly say: No, this is not already a subverting of language. You can come up with the idea that in a variety of symptoms any so far unknown dysfunction of nerves takes place and give it a label. This is in fact science in its progress. You also can come up with a description of symptoms...

Central Sensitization in Neurological, Psychiatric, and Pain Disorders: A Multicenter Case-Controlled Study, Suzuki et al, 2021

I still don´t see the point. Should it be as unscientific forbidden to ask ppl how it feels? I would agree though, that it cannot not compete with objective knowledge like, say, about neurotransmitters. But this alone doesn´t say much as well.

Central Sensitization in Neurological, Psychiatric, and Pain Disorders: A Multicenter Case-Controlled Study, Suzuki et al, 2021

Admittedly, I don´t see the point. Why would it be inappropriate to compare fever from a cold with fever from, say, dengue fever? Why should this not lead to any further knowledge, whatever it might be? So, in "CSS" it may turn out some day that the dopamine system is affected, or whatever.

Central Sensitization in Neurological, Psychiatric, and Pain Disorders: A Multicenter Case-Controlled Study, Suzuki et al, 2021

I might be wrong, but in my understanding, "central senzitation" does not imply in itself any mental causation. Therefore, the paper might be of interest.

Maternal Psychological Factors and Onset of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders in Offspring, Baldassarre et al, 2021

The more I think about it the more it comes to my mind that we have a typical double problem here. [Thank you for pointing out, btw.]

Dysregulated Provision of Oxidisable Substrates to the Mitochondria in ME/CFS Lymphoblasts, 2021, Missailidis et al

... completely right. my understanding was, that they meant an altered energy utilization for any purpose not known right now (maybe a response to an supposed infection or within wound healing pathways; or a counter for that). This would not be a genuine ansewere to impaired glycolysis (which...

Dysregulated Provision of Oxidisable Substrates to the Mitochondria in ME/CFS Lymphoblasts, 2021, Missailidis et al

It may well feel like so, but note that they say in your quotation, it would not reach statistical relevance, in my understanding they say, they found a(nother) tendency, or in a likely interpretation, it may well be a downstream-effect, as quotes:

Somatosensory illusions elicited by sham electromagnetic field exposure, 2020, Wolters et al

It´s metaphoric usage of "predictions", better would be "processing" . Also "interpretation" is metaphoric, and almost as potentially misleading as "prediction". Non-metaphoric usages suddenly. Researchers, you miss completely the logical possibility that in the machinery of the CNS something...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

They seem to refer to this paper: sick-and-tired-of-covid-19-long-haulers-and-post-viral-fatigue-syndromes-2020-outhoff.17249/ from the abstract My underline, and this they mentioned.

This would be somehow nice, if would be that easy and would be correct, wouldn´t it?

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I am astonished to read this, although I am not an expert. https://www.springermedizin.de/preparing-intensive-care-for-the-next-pandemic-influenza/17331718 (first side google gave) And this is then is not the case with covid, which was said several times that it especially affects ppl with more...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Because of responsibility for the whole? The damage from short sighted views might extend the damage from long sighted view. If you look at single cases and how bad it is, you miss your responsibility for the majority which one´s people you cannot all visit with your compassion.

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

@Woolie I am again sorry to say this, but the discussion is not about single cases, but on numbers, and you can only work to minimize damage. In this sense it´s a statistical problem. You can of course wish for golden societies (though I see it mere that our societies are still at risk, and...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Germany was praised for its handling, at least it reacted timely, though not hard (and had only about five times lesser covid deaths than Sweden, which also had very low mortality in the year before), but now the problem you describe is clearly on the cards. You might say of course, that...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Here a video on the situation we are with special regard to herd immunity from a physicist. Hossenfelder cites, we are in a situation where we have only bad options. In the comments Guy Mercier writes

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I don´t know if I should be astonished or not be astonished that people claim such nonsense you describe here. This looks like an indirect effect, so "purely" shouldn´t apply here. Here in Germany hospitals have been empty and nurses stayed at home while people havn´t got their medical care...

Recognising and explaining functional neurological disorder, 2020, Stone et al

Right, but you quoted my post, and for criticism, and I originally only wanted to point out, that algorithms and the likes are by far not bound to BSP models and the likes. Also the interpretation of illnesses which present in a way FND might present themselves, is by far not bound to any BSP...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

If you compare Ireland and Sweden which both had from begin until recently similar numbers, so must one say that Ireland is now worse than Sweden, if I didn´t get it wrong, and it is Ireland, that made strong restrictions. I admit, that it could change rapidly, but we don´t know now.
