At the lab in my local hospital you have to use a pen (they supply it) to write your name on a sign-in sheet. There is no bottle of sanitizer on the counter next to it. When I made a comment to the employees about this they claimed they wipe the pen down between each person. I proceeded to watch...
It's my understanding that there are some studies showing that there may be some small short-term benefits, but that it doesn't matter where the needles are inserted whatsoever. This contradicts the entire theory of 'acupuncture' which states that the needles must be placed in specific spots...
New op-ed by Harvard epidemiologist Mark Lipsitch in the Washington Post (no paywall, article free to view)
‘Serology’ is the new coronavirus buzzword. Here’s why it matters.'
"...in the rush to generate and interpret serologic data, it can be hard for anyone, including experts, to understand...
The FDA has approved an intravenous antibody test made by Swiss company Roche.
"Roche said it's antibody test has a specificity rate exceeding 99.8% and sensitivity of 100%, meaning tests would show very few false positives and no false negatives.
A false-positive result could lead to the...
This is an interesting mask related story from NPR (photo examples in the story).....
"Researchers at Northeastern University have found that adding an outer layer made from nylon stockings to a homemade face covering can boost its ability to filter out small particles in the air by creating a...
My dad sent me this video tonight. Hmmm?
It's not a video you really have to watch in it's entirety, he just goes over one by one a number of the Covid-19 Hydroxychloroquine studies that have come out and he critiques their methodologies. In addition he argues that the drug is not being given...
Here in the US loads of people are sewing cotton masks and giving them out or selling them. Doing so puts no strain on the supplies front line workers need. Where I live the people who are making them gave the first batches ftor our local hospital workers.
Coronavirus could attack immune system like HIV by targeting protective cells, warn scientists
"Further investigations to the coronavirus infection on primary T cells would evoke “new ideas about pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic interventions,” the researchers said in a paper published in...

Neurological Implications of COVID-19 Raise Concerns
Brain infection may contribute to respiratory failure in COVID-19.

Well my local public health officials apparently are quite that stupid. Help us all!!
They just posted this for the community to read (this is exactly how it is written)....
"It is OK to be closer briefly (10 mins or less) to others such as cashier's, store clerks etc. Just remember to wash...
A significant % may remain asymptomatic during their entire infection and be spreading it.
https://ktla.com/news/coronavirus/25-to-50-of-coronavirus-carriers-may-be-asymptomatic-but-can-infect-others-new-data-shows/
If 25%-50% of those infected with coronavirus remain asymptomatic during the entire infection & are spreading the virus then it seems obvious that we should all be wearing masks. I have faith that the public can be learn the do's and don'ts of masking wearing...
"A new pre-print study by a team of Harvard researchers concludes that the idea of a single prolonged lockdown — which many are calling for in the U.S. — is not the most effective or sustainable way to curb the coronavirus epidemic. A more viable, long-term approach is to carry out a series of...
I've been wiping down all my groceries with bleach water (1/3 cup to 1 gallon water) and have had no issues. I even dunk my bananas and pineapples in it.
I found the source....
"Among 200 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, factors that increased the risk for developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and for dying include older age, neutrophilia, and higher lactate dehydrogenase and D-dimer levels, according to a...
I can't remember where, but I saw a list last week that listed 'Neutrophilia' as one of the risk factors along with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.
A science geek on Reddit posted a complicated mathematical formula showing that for every large gathering of people (even if made up of only young people) it leads directly to X amount of deaths. People need to realize that even if they are at low risk of complications and/or death from Covid-19...
Unfortunately the ineptitude is so far at every level of government here in the US....federal, state & counties.
Here in Washington State we have had 6 Covid-19 deaths (the only deaths in the US thus far) in a matter of a few days and local scientists are of the opinion that in the 2 counties...
We have had 4 additional Covid-19 deaths here in Washington State today (bringing our total number of deaths to 6). The majority of the deaths have been in one single nursing home. No other state in the US has yet to report a death. :( Be safe people.
