This is interesting. Anthony Costello thinks setting up testing centres + tracing, is even more important than lockdown; and could help with suppression in 6-8 weeks:
I didn’t say evidence should never be looked at, evidence is looked at. But my post wasn’t about that, it was about the balance of formal processes, what evidence means and different ways things are done. Take for example the processes the UK feels the need to use, how they develop guidelines...
But the decision to remove CBT/GET is not based on campaigning. It’s based on the fact, or it should be, that GET and CBT is literally harming patients. There is no evidence to recommend CBT/GET, there’s no evidence it helps.
Whereas the lightning process isn’t equivalent to this. It is quite...
@JemPD lol that sounds like what my mum does. When the post people come, they put the items outside our door in a box and we won’t even open the door while they’re there. Today my mum opened the door and I said, “why did you do that?!” But it turned out he was already 6 feet away by that point...
@JemPD We heat up everything now to a high heat just to be safe. Bread, milk etc. The bread does go a bit funny. Probably don’t need to, but makes me feel less worried incase there’s a tiny chance of it being in the food.
@adambeyoncelowe thank you for getting back to me about this.. I really appreciate it.
If I hadn’t seen your message I would have just been sitting here getting upset and worrying! I understand the reasoning and I’m glad you tried teleconferencing, but sad that it didn’t work out :(
I am...
Yes @Barry I agree..
For example this:
“During this period of emergency, NICE has adapted its priorities to support the NHS, local authorities and the wider health and social care sector to tackle COVID-19. We will only publish guidance that is therapeutically critical or focused on...
Since the draft consultation was due to close in August, is it not possible to do things remotely, ie hold Zoom meetings with members of the Committee? A lot of things must already have been discussed, so whatever is left, couldn’t it have been done through video conferencing, email etc?
I’ve...
Ah ok! Yes you’re right they’re not that wet. They smell very very strong though! I don’t do the actual wiping and my mum does :) I think my mum actually does a double wipe - first with dettol solution. And then with alcohol wipes.
@JemPD
I don’t know if I’ve posted this before, think I might have but in another thread; about these alcohol wipes. They are Isopropyl alcohol and medical surface wipes and pretty much kill everything. They’re getting increasingly hard to find on eBay but it comes in a 6pack of 120 wipes per...
This is British Exceptionalism at its absolute worst.
As @Sasha has asked about, if there is no one at the “top” pushing for eradication and testing, how will things ever change? It’s very worrying and frustrating.
I know western residents of China (friends of my partners, who I recently got back in contact with through social media), who have been in China throughout this outbreak, who don’t tell a different story. They say China made mistakes at the beginning but they put that on their shoulders and...
@Hell..hath..no..fury...
What will be 6 months? The quarantine? So work etc won’t start for another 6 months? I did expect as much. Actually didn’t they say winter would bring a second wave..So after 6 months wouldn’t it be winter which means surely the quarantine will be extended again to...
I forgot to mention, as well as Gourmade
I also have tried in the past and like Cook Food. Their tag line is “remarkable food for your freezer”. Also very nice treat food. With a large vegetarian section as well as fish and meat. And their desserts are amazing

@JemPD
If you want a treat, Gourmade has the best ready meals I’ve ever tasted.
https://gourmade.com/shop/
I haven’t had the meat dishes but even their veggie stuff is amazing, which is actually really hard to get in ready meals I find. Their Moroccan chickpea pie is one of the best ready...
@Alis that does look like meals on wheels. Different councils have different names.
I used to get that about a year or two ago. Had it for a few months but had to stop. I got an “ethnic” menu think it was called Vegetarian Asian. But I can’t eat aubergine or lentils. So there was only a very...
