NICE ME/CFS draft guideline - publication dates and delays 2020

But why? What was their reason for doing so? I find it unacceptable. We have people who are sympathetic to ME on the guideline committee, so it’s not as if NICE aren’t aware of what’s happened with GET. It’s nothing short of a national scandal and I find it unacceptable they cannot remove...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

@Rosie I agree with what you say the international travellers. Here in the UK, from what you say, our international restrictions / quarantine etc are many times worse than NZ. At the very beginning, a few months ago, some passengers fro Wuhan were brought in and kept in quarantine together in a...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

From local council (only found out by going on their website), For the extremely vulnerable, from next week, there’s a council helpline. Have to call that; and tell them the reference number from the top of my letter. Then they’ll tell me what day my food parcel will come. It will come from a...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

@Invisible Woman sorry I might have misread your post. I thought you said what happens if you get put in the group. But I think you meant what happens after filing out the questionnaire. I don’t know answer to that question. A few of my friends have filled it out with no answer yet.

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

@Invisible Woman So far I’m receiving daily texts (as I mentioned over on the living with COVID-19 thread). Giving me self care tips etc. At some point apparently I’m meant to get help with people bringing me groceries and medication. I heard also driving people to appointments. Also the list...

NICE ME/CFS draft guideline - publication dates and delays 2020

It’s very disappointing but understandable. However, what is stopping NICE making the decision to at the very least get rid of the graded exercise therapy and CBT recommendations from the guidelines? They know it’s horrendously harmful and is leading to long term damage. And there’s no...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Yet.. A week ago.. “Yes we’ve engaged with that process today. We’re not clear how many ventilators we will get, we’re getting on with it”. Didn’t seem like they missed the emails. I really am hoping they do join future schemes because it sounds like it would have helped the Uk a lot.

@Andy will the announcement of whether or not UK GWAS was awarded the funding, be delayed now, because of the coronavirus?

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

“Dr Lewis Mackenzie, a Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council Discovery Fellow, commented: “Why on earth has this been sent to the media via a third party PR company instead of the Oxford University press team? Seems very irresponsible to encourage reporting on this topic before...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I note that in the UK, although shops like Next, Body Shop, Candle shops, beauty product shops, shoe shops, Clothing shops, any shop at all you name it, although no longer open to the public, are still open for online ordering. I noticed this as I had placed a body shop order before the lockdown...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Ok. Just catching up on Newsnight. Tonight on BBC. Re death rates in the UK. “Department of health is changing how it’s compiling and releasing these figures. It turns out these deaths may not be the number of deaths that have taken place over the last 24 hours. The department of health, the...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

The UK’s death rate is not doubling as rapidly compared to Italy or (I think) Spain either (see my above posts). Which I was surprised about but there could be many reasons. It was on that trajectory but slowed down over the last 4 days.

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Mortality rate is when death has been scaled to size of the population? I read something today; about this, about looking at number of deaths rather than scaling it: Sorry I’m also a bit confused about your statement. Why would looking at mortality rate be better than total no of deaths...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

@strategist In terms of people being on overcrowded hospitals, if that is a factor, I think it could be a similar situation in the UK, if not now then in the future. And possibly worse in the UK due to lack of beds, hospitals closed down over past few years etc. And I think here too, people are...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

@strategist @Adrian thanks. If I remember correctly, Spain is also following a similar path to Italy? Which is why it is confusing that the UK should diverge. But yes there are possibly quite a few differences between Italy and the UK. Number of people in each house could differ, in London...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Just tracking the number of deaths UK has had due to Coronavirus, compared to Italy. I found this data of deaths in Italy vs UK at different times. Up until 4 days ago, the UK and Italy were very much on a similar track. However over the last few days, that seems to have diverged quite a lot...
