How to explain the 'fatigue' of ME/CFS to non-sufferers - comparisons they could understand

I am not too sure, to be honest, as i do not have much experience with MG, but from what i understand you have it for life. What i do know for sure is that magnesium worsens the condition. MG would be a differential diagnosis to ME.

"Cerebral blood flow is reduced in ME/CFS during head-up tilt testing even in the absence of hypotension or tachycardia... van Campen et al, 2020

There was a Canadian study that found reduced brain blood flow during exercise. I would need to dig for the paper, it may have been in the 1990’s.

Lancet editorial (2020) 'Complicit silence in medical malpractice'

It reminds me of a day when i was a freshly graduated nurse in a position that usually requires some experience, but regardless here i was. We has a small operating room in the labor and delivery unit and there was this one doctor who used to come for emergency c-section unpleasantly drunk...

    Cyclophosphamide

I was wondering whether our Norwegian friends have more information as of when the Cyclophosphamide paper will publish, if at all? It’s taking a very long time...

USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC) news (including ME/CFS Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Calls) - next call 4 Dec 2024

@Wilhelmina Jenkins i ‘liked’ your post because i agree with your interpretation, but it doesn’t mean i like it. i believe there is much work to be done for patients in getting access to the right information and the right recommendation. There would be great improvements in changing the...

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

It is simply that as pts report structural abnormalities to the cervical region, it adds to what we do not know, and how neglected we as a community have been when it comes to exploring what can go wrong. The simple fact of having ME means that in general patients receive less care and less...

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

hi Jonathan, many research questions can be generated, including -what is the clinical course of the illness, -what is the recovery rate -what is the incidence and prevalence? -what are the co-morbidities and risks of getting these diseases, associated with ME? -are slow onset and infectious...

USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC) news (including ME/CFS Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Calls) - next call 4 Dec 2024

It is such an unfortunate way to communicate with desperate patients who face tremendous unmet health care needs and as mentioned by someone in the call, such a low number of experts. Those who witnessed the early days of the outbreaks are in retirement age. I am also quite disappointed that...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

No one would consider reusing condoms for any reason (shortage or cost) by cleaning them with bleach or isopropyl alcohol... just a thought.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

there is an increasing need for epidemiological studies on a large cohort of patients, longitunal and very comprehensive. One would hope the NIH study would jump into action with their cohort.

It was 400$ USD from what i remember and no, there were no refunds for this test. And yes for badge of honour, just like MTHFR and autoantibody panel.

No evidence of abnormal metabolic or inflammatory activity in the brain, rheumatoid arthritis, 2020, Mueller, Younger. [Fatigue, MRSI]

This is linked to the following paper where Dr Jarred Younger is one of the main investigator. This is following his work on brain inflammation in ME patients published last year i believe, and he had promised to look at other diseases to see whether he could find signs of inflammation. No...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I am 100% sure because i am a nurse and i received formal training on isolation and infection control. There has been no safety testing on a safe procedure to disinfect a mask. While disinfecting a smooth surface may be easy using isopropyl alcohol, the same cannot be assumed for a porous and...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

No, no, no. You cannot sterilize a face mask by soaking it in alcohol. The N95 are designed for a single use, 8 hours work if you will, provided they do not get wet. The other concern i would have would be the chemical exposure of the product used to ‘sterilize’ which is not the right term...
