UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

Tesco have no slots available for the next 3 weeks as of this morning. I have an existing delivery saver plan with them and am on the government most vulnerable list, so it doesn't look like they've used this list to pick up even their most vulnerable customers who have regularly used their home...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

I read somewhere that this list is going to be updated once a week with additional names that get picked up via GP records (I think it said every Monday - they are expecting another 600,000 or so). So it would still be worth signing up to the list if you haven't already as presumably they will...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

Yes, I've just received the same email. It says they will delete this personal information from my record at the appropriate time in the future, but after all this stress I'm going to get them to flag me as a vulnerable customer permanently.

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

I went on income support after my divorce, rather than the higher rate incapacity benefit, because I hoped so much I would one day be well enough to work full time and didn't want to ruin my chances of getting offered a job in the future (this was before the Equalities Act). At that time single...

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

Before I got PIP I somehow managed on the basic rate of ESA for 2 years (including needing to run a car due to there being no public transport in my village). It was actually the introduction of the bedroom tax leaving me with only about £75 a week that forced me to face the ordeal and stress of...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

My Sainsburys account is now allowing me to book a delivery slot, which must be due to them having cross-referenced me from the government list. The next 4 days have no available slots but the following 4 days have almost all of the slots available. It seems that Sainsburys are now only opening...

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

This just shows what life was like for all those 'benefit scroungers' before this crisis hit! It would have cost me more to get the bus into town (if I could have walked the 2 miles to the nearest bus stop) than it would have cost me to purchase the items I would have been entitled to from my...

The only item from this that I would normally buy (and then only occasionally) would be the baked beans (I eat these cold from the tin when in PEM). Of course, if I was in a state of absolute starvation I would eat all the items, but I'd have to be really desperate.

Covid-19 - rationing of medical care

What is being proposed is battlefield triage. My eldest sister was a nurse for nearly 40 years. She joined the navy when she was 18 and specialised in Accident and Emergency from the time she originally finished her nursing qualifications. I recall her explaining her military training to me when...

Resources for help getting food during quarantine and safe handling of food

We need delivery drivers to at least be wearing face masks - so hoping this will start happening in western countries.

Resources for help getting food during quarantine and safe handling of food

For over 25 years I've blocked up my letter box and have a mail box on the side of the house or beside the front garden gates (whichever one works according to the property I've lived in). Originally I did this because I had a dog that attacked the mail, but still prefer this arrangement even...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

I was thinking about Sainsburys being the supermarket that is at least trying to lead in helping all their vulnerable customers within their own limitations. For those of you who haven't visited a large Sainsburys store, something my out of town one offers (but not the smaller in town one) is...

Yes, looks like a food bank delivery - they usually only supply 3 days of food in normal times.

Here is the letter that has been sent to patients and/or carers of patients on this government list: https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/03/at-risk-patient-letter-march-2020.pdf

That was the message they sent to all their regular online delivery subscribers! They don't even offer 'Click and Collect' in Somerset. Apparently my nearest store that offers this is in Wales...

This is my message from Tesco today (as a online delivery plan subscriber): But I'm assuming they are planning on using the 'shielding' list to judge who is vulnerable.

Advice on mask-wearing to protect against Covid-19

Not sure if this has already been posted, but this issue is starting to get media attention in the UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-52126735

They have also changed the official name of this group from the 'extremely vulnerable' to the 'shielded' group! So much for looking after society's most vulnerable members, which my MP has previously told me in relation to PIP, the government are very concerned to do!

Covid-19 - Psychological research and treatment

Bah sucks - I've started to have visitors! I have a lovely neighbour (next door but not the attached one) who I occasionally talk to if I happen to see her when I'm in the front garden. I happened to mention that my daughter had received the NHS 'shielding' letter as my carer. I don't mind...

I'm still waiting for Sainsburys to flag me up as vulnerable, so I may try your approach with them. I noticed that they said they are going to cross-reference the government list with customers who have shopped with them in the past, but didn't specify whether these customers needed to have...
