UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

Now is not the time for me to buy a decent freezer, but this looks a great way to buy a few month's worth of treat meals at a time (i.e. over £50 to get the free delivery).

Checked out the company that my council uses. This is their coronavirus update: https://www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/blog/coronavirus-update https://www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/extremely-vulnerable

A Google search might produce your local Sainsbury's address and telephone number. E.g.: https://stores.sainsburys.co.uk/0709/hankridge-farm Edit: So maybe your request would be dealt with by their customer service desk. Probably worth sending a letter to both addresses.

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

I don't want that either, but whereas I could (possibly) hide the actual medical cause of being housebound from neighbours (by not divulging this and referring only to having neurological/immunological problems) I cannot hide my autistic communication difficulties in any interactions. Before my...

Yes. All I want is access to supermarket online delivery slots myself! I really don't want people I know (i.e. neighbours) learning about my autism. I'm less concerned about being on a more impersonal government list that will tell my supermarket I should be considered as vulnerable.

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I was listening to Talk Radio this morning between about 4 am-6 am. The presenter was interviewing a doctor (can't remember his name) who kept emphasising to the presenter that if you asked any medical student how to deal with a pandemic, they would say, test, test, isolate positive individuals...

It would be worth writing (email if possible) to your GP to highlight your concerns. They are being given some discretion, especially if you have a rare disease that could easily have been missed in the national data trawl.

Seems like Asthma UK have been inundated with concerned asthmatics, as they seem to have removed the table I used to work out that my steroid medication exceeds the threshold of what is moderate to what is severe asthma. Now the advice it that it is up to your clinician to decide if you have...

I think that's why I prefer to be on this list as opposed to asking for help that may be delivered from one of the 600,000 volunteers that have signed up with the NHS, the people involved with this smaller scheme are more likely to be well vetted.

Regarding the government list, the public have been told that if they think they should have been included on the list and haven't had a letter by Sunday (we don't get post on Sunday in the UK) then they should directly contact their GP to discuss it. I have no idea what will happen to those who...

UK: REGISTER AS A VULNERABLE PERSON TO GET CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

This narrative about it 'just being the elderly and those with underlying health conditions' dying is exactly what happened here in the UK. That has slowly begun to change since Monday this week, when more severe restrictions started being put in place and police powers of enforcement announced...

Yes, lots of talk about 'the elderly and vulnerable' but nothing about the pre-existing 'housebound'. We were invisible before and we're invisible still.
