Is ME/CFS seen as a risk/priority group in the vaccination against sars cov 2 in your country?

Notably other conditions like Asthma are also not considered to be a part of the risk/priority group in Australia...

Can vaccines cure ME/CFS or Long Covid?

All of these claims in the media are speculation, rather than being based on published studies. The one published study showed a fairly weak response and had limited sample size (66 participants). People want to believe there is a simple and easy solution, but reality is usually more...

The Times: "The Sleeping Beauties by Suzanne O’Sullivan review — how the human mind can make us sick" by Tom Whipple, 2021

But those sensations/perceptions in dreams are flawed. They are not anything like reality. It is just the brain often doesn't care. I regularly wake up from dreams simply because they are not real enough. Last night I woke up after trying to eat pizza in a dream. At the instant of "tasting" it...

The Times: "The Sleeping Beauties by Suzanne O’Sullivan review — how the human mind can make us sick" by Tom Whipple, 2021

I've never seen anyone phrase it quite like that. But I wonder if there are still a few people who claim just that (or the equivalent with a different symptom)? (but even if they claim it, that doesn't mean it is true)

Functional Neurological Disorders (FNDs) in the media

Why are they pretending like "FND" is a single condition?

The Times: "The Sleeping Beauties by Suzanne O’Sullivan review — how the human mind can make us sick" by Tom Whipple, 2021

The big mistake she is making is confusing the message with the messenger. The presentation of illness to medical practitioners (or shamans or whatever) is very much socially influenced and can explain these strange observations, without requiring any notion of social factors causing those...

Effect of Melatonin Plus Zinc Supplementation on Fatigue Perception in ME/CFS: A Randomized, Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled Trial,2021,Castro-Marrero

I'm not sure. The mechanism I was talking about involves spinal feedback loops related to proprioceptive afferents.

Effect of Melatonin Plus Zinc Supplementation on Fatigue Perception in ME/CFS: A Randomized, Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled Trial,2021,Castro-Marrero

Neuropathic pain conditions are due to incomplete recovery of damaged nerves. Often this is due to peripheral neuropathies (they usually arise after various severe injuries or neurological diseases). But they can in principle be due to central causes, such as multiple sclerosis, strokes, spinal...

Effect of Melatonin Plus Zinc Supplementation on Fatigue Perception in ME/CFS: A Randomized, Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled Trial,2021,Castro-Marrero

No one can even agree on what the perception of fatigue actually is. Is it an altered perception of effort? Is is unusual muscular pain or feeling of muscle stiffness? Is it unexpectedly poor performance when undergoing a task? Is it an unexpected feeling of weakness? Poor memory or word...

    The SARS-CoV-2 receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in [ME/CFS].., 2021, Malato et al

I'm not sure why they thought there would be a difference, but better to know than not know, right?

Effect of Melatonin Plus Zinc Supplementation on Fatigue Perception in ME/CFS: A Randomized, Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled Trial,2021,Castro-Marrero

I don't think that is true when the medication is something really obvious like melatonin. But I agree with you all, that this is a weak result.

News from Aotearoa/New Zealand and the Pacific Islands

When people make claims like "100% have hypocapnia", they lose credibility to me. Markers like this never have 100% sensitivity, I doubt he has quality data to back up that claim. Unless we see data from a randomised (such as a crossover trial) cohort, with objective outcome measures of...

Central sensitisation in chronic pain conditions: latest discoveries and their potential for precision medicine) Nijs et al.

Except that it often doesn't. Many fibro patients have normal pain threshold responses to various forms of stimulation. Also notably, NK1 receptor antagonists have failed to demonstrate efficacy in clinical trials for any pain condition.

Can vaccines cure ME/CFS or Long Covid?

In other words, they don't have a clue. Despite all the media hype, the vaccines don't seem to have much effect for most LongCovid recipients. I'd argue that most of the anecdotal remissions are due to natural recovery (regression to the mean) and in those few that have a chronic SARS-CoV-2...

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

If only that were entirely true... Questionnaires are the basis for much of "Evidence based medicine" (and psychology).

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

Given that the spike protein itself is almost identical between the mRNA and Adenovirus vectored vaccines, the main differences are the anti-vector immune responses. This is an 'in mice' study, but testing the whole LD/SD thing, an initial lower dose lead to greater germinal centre activity two...
