The status that Jen has gained in the public eye makes her expressing a view a powerful thing:

Esther Crawley talk at TEDxBristol, Thurs 2nd Bristol - "Disrupting Your View Of ME"

I hope I don't seem to be implying that @JohnTheJack is unreliable - it's simply that in order to make a strong claim (and calling anyone, let alone a public figure, is a strong claim), it's important that sources are primary ones. So whether John confirms what he was told or not, it's Gill...

Thanks for understanding, Ezzie! We've still got Gill's views being reported by a third party and I think it really is important to get these things first-hand.

It would be good if this Gill would make a public statement.

How to find a lightweight duvet?

Interesting that the bamboo duvet has weights: "The 2.5 Tog weight is a super light 180grm2, with the 9 tog weighing 430grm2." That's grams per metre squared, presumably, so a double duvet (2m x 2m) would be 4 sq m and the 2.5 tog duvet would be 760g and the 9 tog would be 1720g, for a total of...

Esther Crawley talk at TEDxBristol, Thurs 2nd Bristol - "Disrupting Your View Of ME"

Thanks, Ezzie, but we still seem to be getting our info indirectly (from an Andy Hugh now). I don't mean to be picky but in the past I've seen BPS people misquoted and while I understand that they're not popular and have a lot to answer for, I think it's important that if we're going to call...

How to find a lightweight duvet?

Thanks! I just went over there and asked for their advice. Unfortunately, their lightest microfibre duvet (to avoid allergies) is heavier than the one I already have (but at least they were able to find its weight for me!).

Esther Crawley talk at TEDxBristol, Thurs 2nd Bristol - "Disrupting Your View Of ME"

I'm confused. So she did receive a letter or email with that wording and the only issue is that it wasn't made up from cut-out letters?

Esther Crawley talk at TEDxBristol, Thurs 2nd Bristol - "Disrupting Your View Of ME"

Can anyone bear to transcribe that bit? I'm hugely surprised that she would actually claim that Sunday Times mock-up for herself, if it wasn't addressed to her, and seems so clearly to have been addressed to a man. I'm wondering if she used ambiguous phrasing or something.

How to find a lightweight duvet?

Interesting - do you live in the UK, @Jan, if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering how you survive with such a low-tog duvet! I'm a huge fan of bamboo socks - can't go back to cotton now.

How to find a lightweight duvet?

I just spoke to someone in John Lewis who wasn't able to provide weight info (i.e. kg weights) but recommended as probably their lightest synthetic the 'breathable microfibre' range. I see that people are raving about them in the reviews and saying they're very good for keeping you the right...

How to find a lightweight duvet?

I've just been reading that a study is about to be published showing that people sleep better in wool bedding (wool duvets are now a thing). Only 8 participants and who knows, maybe funded by the Wool Marketing Board. I was intrigued, though, and then remembered that my home has carpet moths...

How to find a lightweight duvet?

The different fillings seem to have different weights - hollowfibre, microfibre, down, feather, etc. I think I'll phone John Lewis for advice! They might even know what their stuff weighs.

Thanks - really looking for numbers, though, so that I know what I'm buying.

How to find a lightweight duvet?

Thanks, @Valentijn, but my question isn't how to find a 2-part duvet - there are millions of them, and I've already got one anyway - it's how to find one that's genuinely lightweight. I'm looking for how many kg or kg/m2, so I can compare. I wish there was a site that already did this.

Eran Segal (Solve grantee): Personalised microbiome-based diets for blood glucose regulation

I don't think it's necessarily circular, but it may be dynamic. It may converge on something. I'd be curious to know what Dr Segal thinks about this. I suspect it may be hard to determine computionally but the proof of the pudding (no pun intended) would be on the clinical response (in terms of...

Eran Segal (Solve grantee): Personalised microbiome-based diets for blood glucose regulation

One question I have is that your response to certain foods presumably depends on your current microbiome but if you alter your diet to the foods that spike your blood sugar less, then presumably your microbiome changes in response. Does the new microbiome cause different foods to spike your...
