Keep in mind though the lack of staff.
Maybe it would make more sense to send the ventilators to other countries if not needed.
Or find a way for manufacturers to distribute them to the countries most in need.
It's sad that so little came from the EU officials. No shared...
Maybe that comparison is too far fetched but doesn't the same rationale apply like in safer sex?
If two people don't know their own and the other person's status - and you can't get testet - wear protection.
But I get what you mean. You could end up being chased with a pitchfork or a plague...
And we got used to all sorts of silly trends. Like mullets etc. People can adapt :)
I think with the right narrative which also is fact based - "I'm wearing this to protect you in case I'm sick" - this can become a new normal for some time.
It's strange how much officials are tip toeing around the subject. They don't want people to get a false sense of security thinking with a mask they can come closer or they would harm themselves by putting it on and off the wrong way.
Isn't that something that can be communicated and learnt...

Yes that's why I think making a will is important, also for young people and not only during a pandemic. Still many people don't have one and in a situation where triage is necessary the patient most likely can't articulate anymore. Families can't get included in discussions about end of life...
This is a core ethical dilemma, who decides for you when you can't and who determines what "quality of life" means?
That dilemma came up with the advanced medicine and intensive care and societies haven't caught up with sufficient solutions, I think.
For myself, I have decided yrs ago that I...
The British paper says that decisions have to be made transparent - how transparent and well thought through can they be in an overwhelmed hospital? Or do they just need the patients' job title?
I get the logic behind it but it gives me cold shivers.
The German guidlines say they will make...

I would have never guessed! I remember there was a Friends episode on that though.
Rinsing the bar under water after use and letting it dry seems to be a good idea.
I thought that liquid soap would be worse because you touch the dispenser thing on top with unwashed hands. But then it...
I use a normal soap bar without fragrance and with - I don't know what the right word is - lipid regulating properties (?).
So the hands don't dry out so much from all the washing.
I think the soap bar itself can't get contaminated since any virus would get destroyed touching the bar.
Especially considering that a large part of the population is expected to be infected.
So even if we take that argument that they only are helpful when you are closely dealing with an infected person, chances are high somebody in your household will get sick. By then you definetely need a mask...
If these certificates grant the right to e.g. work, move freely in public spaces, maybe cross borders, it could be an incentive or even a necessity for people to deliberatly get infected.
How many of the severe cases develop post intensive care syndrome (= long term cognitive, physical and mental impairment).
And how to separate that from ME using clear criteria (PENE as the main symptom)
@Wonko
If you have a first aid kit at home or in your car, they often include these thin paper masks. I found a couple in mine.
They might not be great but have this wire thing to adjust the mask tight to the face and might be better than nothing.
Our health minister kept on saying that he has ordered 10.000 ventilators in press conferences - as if that means anything until he actually has them delivered.
Everybody is ordering them now.
How are companies going to decide who will get them? The highest bidder? The country that needs them...
I'm wondering, everybody is talking about ventilators.
From what I understand, that's for the most severe cases.
But there are also people that only need an oxygen mask, a CPAP or just a nasal cannula (I hope I got this right). And that can prevent them from needing a ventilator if their...
True, we don't know the exact circumstances (maybe person A had sneezed into their hands before and touched the salt shaker and then gave it to Person B?)
It was in the very beginning though, 13 members of a company had been infected after an infected person from China had visited in January...
In our first cohort in Bavaria, one person was infected sitting back to back with somebody in a cantine that already had the virus and just quickly turned around to give the other person the salt shaker that he had asked for (article in German here)
That would confirm the idea of infective...
