    Question concerning XMRV

Thousand thanks, @large donner! More to read, try to understand and think about - great! :)

    Question concerning XMRV

I am honest - I don't understand that. I will go searching, but would be thankful indeed if you would be willing to say more about that.

    Question concerning XMRV

Dear @Jonathan Edwards I don't know biomedical science. I got a glimpse of physical and maths research. I fear you're right. I know humans are not perfect. I know that power and status are important in science, too, besides technical and knowledge limits. I have an ideal understanding of...

    Question concerning XMRV

Could you linķ to that study or say more about it? I am not so deeply informed as you all seem to be about this topic. :) (although I tried to search about it - I see there is more)

    Question concerning XMRV

Hi @Esther12 I find that questionable, too. The reason why I don't have an opinion about Mikovits is because I don't know enough. That holds for most sources. I didn't say I believed everything in the book, but that it's her own view. I will never know what really happened then. I didn't...

    Question concerning XMRV

@Esther, thanks a lot for your info! At times a bit too fast for me, I am not deep in this topic, that's why I asked. I am not focused on XMRV. My feeling is, taking into account what I know up til now, that there was something. It might be relevant for ME - but who knows. Also thanks for...

As a psychologist I see the fantasy of neoliberal values having a devastating effect on mental healt

@MErmaid I think you said very important things, and at least I will try to take them into account. I also see the problem that some aren't English native speakers. I also see misunderstanding is very common. I would like to treat each other with benevolence. I am glad about this discussion.

As a psychologist I see the fantasy of neoliberal values having a devastating effect on mental healt

Gosh, I read my post again...it's sooo unclear. You are absolutely right. It depends on the time. What I actually wanted to say - I hope this time - is that "social aid" originated in a way in groups of people/workers organizing themselves, collecting money and helping others.

    Question concerning XMRV

I found everything that happened then very strange, too. That's one of my motivations to ask. I feel a little the same: once they find something, then again not, then again something, then a partial retraction, and then nothing more. Maybe it's not the XMRV in particular, but the question: What...

@Valentijn Thanks for pointing to HERV! Quite interesting!

    Question concerning XMRV

That's why I asked :) and from a scientific point of view - as a curious person - I am not entirely happy about stopping research in that direction. I share that. I was wondering these days: How common are contaminations in labs? I guess not very uncommon. How is that being taken care off? How...

    Question concerning XMRV

Do you say this with respect to ME or more generally? Wrt ME my last information was (spontaneous and/or longterm) improvement is very uncommon. Would you be willing to cite that here? I found a Dubbo study, but at first sight that doesn't look like the one you seem to mean. These would be...

Eran Segal (Solve grantee): Personalised microbiome-based diets for blood glucose regulation

Thinking about this a second time you are totally right in a numbers sense. If you eat nothing, you will definitely loose weight, and you will gain weight if you go over a certain limit. (Excluding those people who claim to live on light only.) I put in an assumption - very common - that goes...

You didn't! It was great and very helpful! Thank you both!!

    Question concerning XMRV

I'd agree on that. But then it should get worse some time in the future. There ARE people with ME who improved with retrovirals - the one I read of is Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. I believe the woman whose daughter went from "lying in bed in a dark room" to "getting up, taking a shower and...

    Question concerning XMRV

So, is what you mean that until now we don't know other replicating retroviruses than HIV (in humans)? What about HTLV-II? Sept. 2009: Schlaberg, Singh et al. XMRV is present in malignant prostatic epithelium and is associated with prostate cancer, especially high-grade tumors. Nov. 2010...

    Question concerning XMRV

Just another question that popped up: Would anti-retrovirals work even if no retroviruses are present or not contributing to health issues? Are certain retroviruses common in the population, comparable to EBV or herpes virus families etc.?

    Question concerning XMRV

I know. This patent was interesting, which I cannot say about all the other patents I read and wrote. Of course, scientifically not very relevant. I have to do some thinking and searching...Thanks for your statements which I use as a starting point.

    Question concerning XMRV

Hi @Jonathan Edwards, that's what I understood. BUT :) I'm not so sure about that, well, I don't get it. Primarily because I don't understand the details. Secondly, I repeatedly read about it, e.g. here: http://meversuscfs.blogspot.de (there's an English version if you scroll down). And I...
