    Orthostatic intolerance

Dr.Jonathan Edwards reminded me that OI causes low BP so I don't have OI. My BP has been normal my entire M.E journey- 33yrs. The orthostatic impairment started after I had a relapse from taking immune modulators reactivating EBV and HHV6. That was 10yrs post M.E onset. Maybe I have...

Long-term changes in wearable sensor data in people with and without Long Covid, 2024, Jennifer M. Radin et al

That 9 months timeframe is interesting. I've read several accounts on X from pwLC saying they improved completely after 9 months. I felt completely recovered 9 months after my sudden viral M.E onset in 1992. The endocrinologist who did the thyroid scan told me I would most likely recover...

Long-term changes in wearable sensor data in people with and without Long Covid, 2024, Jennifer M. Radin et al

I don't think that post 30 days of having Covid would be a good indicator of having Long Covid. My RHR was up at least 4-6 months after contracting Covid. I didn't return to my baseline for at least 6-8 months.

Long-term changes in wearable sensor data in people with and without Long Covid, 2024, Jennifer M. Radin et al

Abstract To better understand the impact of Long COVID on an individual, we explored changes in daily wearable data (step count, resting heart rate (RHR), and sleep quantity) for up to one year in individuals relative to their pre-infection baseline among 279 people with and 274 without long...

Why can't hospital outpatient clinics cope with patients who can't sit for long in the waiting room? Or can they?

Stand-off at A&E . . . Frustrated patient was involved in a stand-off with staff in a busy A&E after his friend brought in a mattress for him to lie down on. The makeshift bed was dragged into the middle of the emergency unit at Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital as the man grew tired of...

Why can't hospital outpatient clinics cope with patients who can't sit for long in the waiting room? Or can they?

My concern living in Canada are the long wait times in the ER, over 15hrs+, patients are choosing not to go. I would chose not to go unless I'm transported by ambulance for a very serious issue. A nurse on X wrote recently that she left her shift to go home and came back the next day to...

Ozempic, tirzepatide and other GLP-1RAs - impact on ME/CFS

I'm not sure where to post this. Kate Moss' half-sister Lottie, 26, says she ended up in the hospital after using Ozempic that she got from a friend. NEW: 26-year-old model Lottie Moss overdoses on Ozempic, says she was rushed to the hospital and is now warning people against using the drug...

Antibiotics damage the colonic mucus barrier in a microbiota-independent manner, 2024, Jasmin Sawaed et al

Another group of chronic diseases that are linked to antibiotic use are IBDs. Recent epidemiological studies have provided a strong link between antibiotic use and risk for development of IBD, in a dose-dependent manner. Here, we hypothesized that antibiotic use might lead to development of...

Antibiotics damage the colonic mucus barrier in a microbiota-independent manner, 2024, Jasmin Sawaed et al

Abstract Antibiotic use is a risk factor for development of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). IBDs are characterized by a damaged mucus layer, which does not separate the intestinal epithelium from the microbiota. Here, we hypothesized that antibiotics affect the integrity of the mucus...

Health outcomes ... after molnupiravir treatment for COVID-19 for people at higher risk in the community PANORAMIC..., 2024, Harris et al

Here is the first randomized trial to show that an antiviral can prevent Long Covid. In the PANORAMIC trial, people randomized to molnupiravir had less risk of Long Covid than people who received no antivirals

Biomarkers for ME/CFS - discussion thread on the next steps for testing biomarkers, and why we need them

The pathophysiology of delayed PEM biomarker would be very useful. Early signs of molecular changes that occur that could possibly prevent harm and worsening before they occur would be very helpful.
