Article in Verywell:Treating Post-Exertional Malaise in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Don't you just love the assumption underlying all this that us silly hysterical delusional patients never considered or tried various forms of 'exercise' or broader activity management strategies. That we just collapsed on the divan at the first hint of unease and stayed there, despite leading...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Four days since my second AZ. Did get a slight headache or two, and felt a bit worse than usual, for the first couple of days. But otherwise okay now, and overall it was a lot milder reaction than the first shot, which seems the standard pattern for AZ.

Should have got the AZ. I did and can now hear the Universal Symphony, with Aretha singing lead and Ginger on drums.

A 'significant role in the PACE trial' doesn't seem like something you would want on your CV.

Review Prevalence of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in Korea and Japan: A Meta-Analysis, 2021, Lim and Son

@CRG I certainly support robust epidemiology. And, sure, not all clues lead to solutions. But PEM is a biggie. Like the DecodeME genetic study, looking carefully into PEM is a win either way. Whether it turns out to be a specific mechanism (or at least a good biomarker) that can be isolated...

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

Just had 2nd AZ, and holding my Certificate of Vaccination in my hot little hand. No problem so far, but only been a couple of hours. Now looking forward to a booster to improve coverage for variants, especially Delta and Peru-Lambda (name?).

Review Prevalence of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in Korea and Japan: A Meta-Analysis, 2021, Lim and Son

    1. Just because feature X is not universal (or not consistently presented) in a putative syndrome doesn't mean it is irrelevant. The problem might lie with the existing definition of the syndrome. PEM might be a critical discriminator between different but superficially similar conditions. Or...

Review Prevalence of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in Korea and Japan: A Meta-Analysis, 2021, Lim and Son

I think we need two. The epidemiology, and some way to measure PEM in vitro so that patients don't have to do the 2-day exercise tests.

CDC Treatment Evidence Review - consultation period

Yeah, coming on top of NICE and Cochrane things got a bit stretched. Plus when the CDC said they will not be formulating clinical advice based on the review due to a lack of good evidence, that kind of took the urgency out of it.

United Kingdom: News from BACME - British Association of Clinicians in ME/CFS

I note they are using ME/CFS now, not CFS/ME. ----- The deconditioning model swapped out for a dysregulation model. Meh. Apart from any other reason, dysregulation covers an awful lot of ground, without offering much clarity or insight. They need to stop postulating models until they have...

UK: Priority Setting Partnership: Medically Not Yet Explained Symptoms - 10 top priorities published July 2022

A fair question. Is the Not Yet just a sop to placate critics and deceive the ignorant, while carrying on with the same BPS crap they always have? Or is it a genuine shift to a less arrogant certainty about their understanding?
