    Modern environmental factors

The more I learn, the more mad I get. The world is being drenched in thousands of newly created chemicals and every day more are being created. For some reason, the standard operating precedure is to release new chemicals after cursory safety studies, then decades later when people start...

Cardiopulmonary and metabolic responses during a 2-day CPET in [ME/CFS]: translating reduced oxygen consumption [...], Keller et al, 2024

I think the inclusion criteria line of thought was mostly just speculation by me. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. But yes, it was an attempt to explain why the differences seem smaller with deconditioned controls. Although, even though they are smaller, this is yet another study showing...

    Avoiding crashes as a treatment

    Avoiding crashes as a treatment

Not sure if there are many other examples, but Ron Davis mentions one potentially successful case (or could be spontaneous remission) of someone recovering after avoiding crashes for a year: "One researcher had ME and she didn't have a crash and after a year she got better."

Recovery from Exercise in Persons with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) 2023, Moore, Hanson et al

"On social media, some patients have posted that they experienced a very prolonged recovery from the 2-day CPET. Given the potential for prolonged and potentially severe disability in ME/CFS, these anecdotes have prompted hesitancy to undergo a 2-day CPET. As a response to such patient advocacy...

    Using deconditioned people as controls

Yeah, that's a good thought. I'd feel a lot better about such a study if they put activity trackers on everyone for maybe a week to make sure the activity levels are at or below pwME, and didn't just use questionnaires.
