UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

In desperation OH called our GP following the RCGP's head honcho being on BBC Breakfast this morning and saying it was up to a GP's discretion as to whether somebody went on the government's vulnerable list. OH got a call back from a random GP, not one either of us has ever met. He explained...

OH is doing Tesco, and right now is on phone to Tesco help for vulnerable! Oh, it seems he has to wait 24 hours then log in and they'll register us as vulnerable within that time and he can then look for a priority slot!!! We'll see how it works out.

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

Um, what I really came here to say is that for a number of years now we've been getting our fish from The Cornish Fishmonger. They're currently doing free nationwide delivery. I ordered about an hour ago and managed to get a delivery slot on 6 May. I can personally recommend their smoked...

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Couple of days ago OH was chatting over the hedge with our next door neighbour, who is a statistician. He recommended reading John Burn-Murdoch on coronavirus. J B-M writes for FT, and every day puts up a variety of graphs, and comments on them. He's on Twitter, so you can see them there. I...

The Economist 1843 - Notes on isolation, from those who know it well

I kinda see where you're coming from, @Trish. But methinks she pontificates too much for someone who's only been missing her life for 2 years. Time these publications took articles from those who are much more experienced with the DD. I did like the other 2 essays in the article though. I'm just...

The Economist 1843 - Notes on isolation, from those who know it well

I'm sorry but I thought the piece from the person with ME was useless. Only sick for 2 years apart from anything else but still pontificating. She should come here and see what it's *really* like to be sick for years and years and years. Too much high falutin' language and just generally really...

If there was a study to follow ex-COVID-19 patients what would we want to see recorded?

Son in Law's Mum is in the Twin Studies group (Hmm, what relationship is she to me?!), so she asked people to join up to this on FB. OH and myself both doing it, and I sent it to the rest of the family on WhatsApp yesterday. Once you're signed up it only takes about a minute a day (if that...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

There's this from ProMED mail today, and beneath is a list of other mails concerning dogs and cats. From what I recall about the 2 dogs concerned the first one was probably just picking up the virus environmentally. The second one got ill though, but I can't find the mail about that one right...

UK - Resources for help getting food during quarantine and other supermarket related problems

I'm very sorry to hear that @Arnie Pye. We live in the suburbs of Liverpool. No farm shops here either. Across the Mersey on The Wirral it's different (My dear now dead Mother in Law in West Kirby used to visit Farm Shops some years ago). Just was trying to make the suggestion that sometimes...
