    News from Australia

The latest research was presented as well as the results of a unique Long Covid survey - with some dramatic results. I will wait to see how they defined LC. NS: Because you've got multiple problems. You've got psychological issues - where understandably you're feeling knocked about...

    News from Australia

Swan is fully in the psycho-behavioural camp on this stuff, including ME. Always has been. Anything he says on it should be treated as unproven until independently verified.

Hypothesis The viral origin of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, 2023, Maureen R. Hanson

I am furious about the fact that for at least half a century there has been a mainstream physiological test – CPET – that, in conjunction with a 2 day repeat test protocol, could have established beyond dispute there is something seriously wrong with our physiology, and in the way we have been...

Long Covid in the media and social media 2023

I am very sorry for what has happened to these people, and I wish them all the best. OTOH, if this is what it takes for medicine to finally wake up to the brutal reality of these conditions, and how they have been so appallingly mistreated, and often still are, then good.

Trial Report Pattern of Post COVID Fatigue in Elderly Patients, 2023, Gaber (ME/CFS is also discussed)

That is interesting. Suggests the importance of a convalescence period for the under 70s.

Investigating the factors associated with meaningful improvement on the SF-36-PFS ... young people, 2023, Crawley et al

The fact that the hallowed peer-review journals still allow this, in 2023, is beyond concerning. This is just straight corruption of the scientific process. Every time I start thinking I might be a little hard on the BPS club and their supporters (including the journals), they prove me wrong...

Do the findings in LC suggest two distinct phases for ME/CFS onset?

In the absence of any active treatment I think this is currently the best means we have for optimising long term outcomes. The people who do best seem to have had better general circumstances at the start to maximise sustained improvement. Whether complete recovery is actually possible is...
