Evidence of White Matter Neuroinflammation in [ME/CFS]: A Diffusion-Based Neuroinflammation Imaging Study 2026 Yu et al

It's odd. That link seems to work on my phone to get full access, but only when using certain VPNs, and not without VPN. On desktop, it doesn't seem to work no matter which VPN location I try, or without VPN.

Evidence of White Matter Neuroinflammation in [ME/CFS]: A Diffusion-Based Neuroinflammation Imaging Study 2026 Yu et al

Hmm, that is strange. I sent an email to the journal to see if they can clarify.

    News from The Netherlands

It sounds like they're implying that this decision was somewhat based on recommendations of people with ME/CFS. I can imagine that some people who are sick might think that this is the best option to feel better faster, and ZonMw might have felt pressure to take on this idea.

    News from The Netherlands

It sounds like they're overly optimistic, where they're sure they'll find something that works, so they want to be sure what they find is cheap. I think they're limiting their options unnecessarily. The priority, in my opinion, should be identifying real, replicable findings. A trial in ME/CFS...

Preprint Persistent SARS-CoV-2 Spike is Associated with Localized Immune Dysregulation in Long COVID Gut Biopsies, 2026, Abraham Soria et al

That's a good point. All 6 of the significant genes after FDR correction from one of the main findings are on the Y chromosome (quoted below with links to GeneCards added). The groups differ by sex (6/8 female LC vs 1/5 female controls), so it seems to make sense that a group with fewer males...

I don't know if it's a requirement or not, but I found one paper where an author did disclose previously being an LP practitioner: A systematic review of the evidence base for the Lightning Process (2021, Explore)

Persistent SARS-CoV-2 Spike is Associated with Localized Immune Dysregulation in Long COVID Gut Biopsies [Line breaks added] Abstract SARS-CoV-2 persistence is a proposed driver of Long COVID (LC), but the in-situ relationship between residual viral antigen and immune dysregulation remains...

NTP Monograph on the Systematic Review of Long-term Neurological Effects Following Acute Exposure to Sarin, 2019, National Toxicology Program

I haven't read the full text yet (it's very long!), but I thought this would be good to refer to when considering if Gulf War illness (GWI) symptoms may be similar to long-term sarin symptoms. Looking at what the abstract says about evidence for effects in the extended period (≥1 year after...

A thread on what people with ME/CFS need in the way of service

It's great that that exists, but it's hard to imagine all staff being willing to read through and absorb this long document. Maybe the document could be the basis for a publicly available video, which would be more absorbing, and would also be great for non-professional caregivers. It wouldn't...
