Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

I don’t get constipation as I’m able to do quite a balanced diet with plenty of pulses and veggies. However I have noticed that I always feel worst in the morning and going to the loo alleviates some of that horrible all over aching

Cortisol levels in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and atypical depression measured using hair and saliva specimens, 2020, Cleare/Chalder/others

I’ve talked on other threads about the high chances of a depression diagnosis masking gradual onset ME. This ties in with my experience although it’s not clear cut as I was experiencing grief before I started having the regular viral illness episodes.

    Using adrenalin/epinephrine as a crutch ?

In my experience adrenaline is best avoided. Always causes flare ups. Maybe the feeling better morale was due to your meeting anyway if it was positive and helped alleviate some ongoing worries?? I felt a huge relief when my house finally sold after the original sale had fallen through. I...

    Seat for cooking

I see what you mean about safety @Barry I don’t do much hob cooking just soup or scrambled eggs veg stir fry and thinking about it i don’t reckon I need to sit down at the cooker for these short activities. I don’t bother with making gravy or sauce and also given up frying onions and garlic...

    Seat for cooking

I think going in for a try out would be a good idea @Invisible Woman. It looks like they come at a wide range of prices with some fairy cheap ones on Amazon I have added issue of making sure it’s sturdy enough to take my considerable bulk. I might just start off by getting a cheap high...

    Seat for cooking

Duly noted @Wonko and @Kitty re perching stools. My gut feeling was that that wouldn’t work for what I want.

    Seat for cooking

Fair point @Arnie Pye you’re right probably not as high as a barstool but I have got reasonably long legs I’m 1.70m or 5’7” in old money. And it wouldn’t be too bad if I had to get off and push for a couple of seconds as long as I’ve got the something to sit on for the standing still parts of...

    Seat for cooking

Hi looking for any recommendations for a seat on castors to use in my kitchen so I can sit down in front of the work top and cooker to do food prep. My new kitchen is bigger than the old one and there are more steps involved between fridge surface and cooker. Just walking from my seat in...

    O'Dowd-Crawley early intervention study

This is either a very naive attempt at conspiracy by Bristol - vastly overestimating their ability to pull the wool over your eyes - or an hilariously slapdash cock up.

The Prevalence of Pediatric Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in a Community-Based Sample (2020) Jason et al.

I was actually told straight out by a locum GP “we don’t like to give that diagnosis, it’s better just to treat the symptoms”. I assume this is relatively common, most Drs don’t actually come out with that it’s only because I was asking specifically if I had CFS so people are not getting...

A Future Without ME/CFS: True causes and effective treatment strategies. Seminar with Dr Dietrich Klinghardt plus guest speakers. 15th Feb 2020

Anybody who bangs on about “true” causes is just resorting to a faith based approach.

Application of heart rate variability during blood pressure measurement in patients with somatic symptom disorder, 2020, Huang et al

Hold on a minute I thought focussing on symptoms, catastrophising, health anxiety is supposed to be what keeps us feeling ill. But if the researchers decide it’s a good idea to measure heart rate that’s ok after all.

Trial By Error: CBT and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

IBS is clearly seen as a moneyspinner. They are now trialling that old ‘favourite’ amitryptiline https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-51265389. Not a fan personally. Seems too much of a scattergun approach for tricyclics just as with CBT. If you don’t know what to do for someone give em...

Those congratulations are the type of stuff we used to get at my work for the staff website when I worked in HR. we used to ask senior management in our organisation to give us quotes we could use in support of our projects. I don’t think they are all unsolicited.
