    Dr Jonathan Kerr

I don't know @Skycloud I was just trying to think which specialty/system it would fit into.

    Dr Jonathan Kerr

So interesting. I did a basic course for a few years on Human Anatomy and Physiology well over 20 years ago and have forgotten a lot of what I learned about all the systems in the body. I was just thinking about which system of the body you would put the microbiome in. I thought the...

Stanford Community Symposium 2018: Phair, Metabolic traps, Tryptophan trap

I agree, faecal transplants, to me, are more topical and will wash away because whatever produces the microbiome composition in the intestines will just keep pumping out an altered composition and the walls will keep returning to the altered state. We need to find out what is going on in the...

'E-cigarettes help more smokers quit than patches and gum' (30.01.2019) Kelland / Reuters

I'd appreciate that so much Marco. Honestly with the cognitive problems I have I find all the options so hard to figure out with the e-cigs. I will PM you in the next few days. I have a bit of vertigo at the moment and as soon as that eases up I will message you.

'E-cigarettes help more smokers quit than patches and gum' (30.01.2019) Kelland / Reuters

Congrats @Marco If it hadn't been for the pain I experienced I would have switched over as well. It's the best thing we have ever had to quit and we need it to remain an option. Here in NZ they have been talking about making us smokefree by 2025 and yet they are now considering legalising...

'E-cigarettes help more smokers quit than patches and gum' (30.01.2019) Kelland / Reuters

I'll never forget a long train trip I did before I got sick with ME. Only 2 smoking stops on the 10 hour trip. I had withdrawals the majority of the journey. I dreaded the return trip. On the way home, about halfway, the train driver stopped the train to let everyone out to view and take...

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

I never felt any sense of sedation when I woke in the morning either. Yes, the ME is still there even with better sleep. I can't remember having sleep problems in my earlier onset years. Insomnia is more a severe PEM symptom for me.

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

@Snowdrop You may find melatonin will still work well at smaller dosage. I started out at 1mg and reduced to half then found a quarter still helped me to get off to sleep within a hour. I tried melatonin when my ME was at moderate level and felt no negative side affects that I can remember...

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

@Ravn I can't bear rocking or any kind of movement like that. I caught a train to downtown a few weeks ago, it took just under 15 minutes to get there, the swaying was very unpleasant and I wouldn't want to do a longer trip.

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

I'd be interested to know what level of ME the sleep problems began. For me, I can't remember noticing sleep problems in the early years of ME onset. It was only when I reached severe/very severe.

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

Yes, same with me. Have you experienced the level where you start retching and being sick as if poisioned? The weakness is even worse with this, you can't eat even though your stomach is rumbling with hunger, also you get diarrhoea with it. I get this one with accumulated PEM. The last time I...

Does your ME cause sleep inversion?

Same here with the wired and tired and gut becoming irritated. Insomnia is a sign of severe PEM for me. At it's worst I will not be able to sleep at all and will lie awake all night. I usually only have one or two nights like this now and then improve but in my severe years the insomnia was...

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

@Milo I can't see what was wrong with this thread and it seeming vague, not vague to me and other posters knew what I was talking about because they had experienced similar. A lot of the posters had seen a doctor and by the sounds of it were not given any clue what might be causing it. We are...

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

I know what you mean about the bar, it feels like that under and across the kidney area. I've had one UTI and a kidney stone.

Sounds like you feel the discomfort lower down @NelliePledge

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

@Arnie Pye I wish we had shops that had beds in them that we could pay for a lie down and rest for a hour while out shopping. I get sore along the traverse colon too, but I think it is due to constipation that I am now experiencing since menopause. I've got to try and persuade my doctor (new...

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

Yes, core strengthening is way too intense and produces a severe PEM for me. I tried a number of times to tone up. It triggers PEM and you can't get past it.

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

I think it might be muscle weakness but I do wonder if our kidneys might be the cause of it.

Does anyone else experience soreness in the back?

I hope I don't get this one, although the key hole surgery has made the operation not as bad as the huge cut they used to perform. I've checked through the symptoms and don't think I have this but good to refresh my memory about gallstones again. Thanks for the link. I hope you are well...
