Success or otherwise of NHS Long Covid clinics

After a poor experience at one of the UK's main Long Covid clinics, I was wondering what value they offer. Are there people who feel these clinics have really helped them? I was left with this feeling of being in an illusion of a clinic -- everything was represented but nothing was real, in the...

    Antihistamines

Update, my husband completely recovered after switching to the second combination of anti-histamines advocated in the above article, plus taking low-dose amytryptaline (given to maximise his sleep.)

Cytokine deficiencies in patients with Long-COVID, 2022, Vicente Planelles et al

This paper has now been published: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9894377/ . They try to address the differences between their findings and other studies (which find the opposite) in the discussion. One thing they say is: "Even though the symptoms of long-COVID are thought to be...

Evidence of GET (and exercise generally) being helpful or harmful in ME/CFS and related conditions

There's a thread dating from four years ago about GET and whether there is good evidence it is actually harmful. I was wondering whether there has been any new evidence since then. (old thread is here...

    Antihistamines

I've now found the generic version from a reputable online pharmacy but, as pointed out above, it is pretty expensive. Thanks for the insights everyone.

    Antihistamines

Thanks for this. My rationale is more to do with recent trials that have been started looking at a combination of H1 and H2 antihistamines for long Covid. Pepcid is theoretically available OTC but I can't find a legitimate place to buy it.

    Antihistamines

U.K. Where to buy pepcid/famotidine Hi all, we want to try famotidine as a treatment for Long Covid but I have discovered that Boots does not stock it, yet it seems to be an OTC medication in the UK (sold as Pepcid). Does anyone know where to buy it? Thank you

Fatigue and perceived fatigability, not objective fatigability, are prevalent in people with post-COVID-19, 2022 Fietsam et al

Hi Hutan, thank you for the welcome. No I don't have an association with the study, I just saw the discussion and wanted to know what people thought once they had seen the whole thing. It just resonates with my husband's symptoms that almost everything seems to be a problem with his brain not...

Fatigue and perceived fatigability, not objective fatigability, are prevalent in people with post-COVID-19, 2022 Fietsam et al

It spends some time exploring the idea that brain hypo-metabolism could be the cause of the perceived fatigue. It cites previous studies to support this, for example: "A review by Rudroff et al. (Rudroff et al. 2021) summarized studies in people with post-COVID-19 that showed FDG-PET...
