Many of you know that i've been using various analytical techniques to assist my research for ME. We have a new compound called Apigenin that is proposed as a research target for the amelioration of ME Symptoms.

Some interesting qualities of apigenin related to PwME :

Of the 281 differentially-expressed genes in the two groups, 271 genes were upregulated, and one gene was downregulated. The top 10 differentially-upregulated genes and one downregulated gene are shown in Figure 5A. Functional annotation clustering using DAVID revealed that the majority of hepatic genes regulated by apigenin in HFD-fed mice were related to oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), the electron transport chain, the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, fatty acid metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis

and

We also observed that TCA cycle genes (Idh2, Fh1, Aco1) and fatty acid oxidation genes (Acadsb, Ehhadh) were upregulated in the livers of apigenin-supplemented obese mice, along with other genes that facilitate fatty acid utilization (e.g., Elovl2 and Pecr) (Figure 5B). Fatty acid oxidation is the catabolic process by which fatty acid molecules are broken down in the mitochondria to produce acetyl coenzyme A, which enters the TCA cycle [42]. The reactions of the TCA cycle generate NADH and FADH2, which are in turn used by the OXPHOS pathway to generate ATP

Apigenin has several other potentially interesting qualities which i discuss in the following post

As some of you know, i've been trying to ameliorate my symptoms using supplements (and done so successfully). I always wanted to find the minimum amount of supplements that could keep me symptom-free. Whenever i would try the efficacy of a combination of supplements i would crash within 5-7 days if this combination was not a successful one.

I am happy to say is that apigenin has helped me immensely. I will contact two researchers who i believe will find apigenin interesting namely, Carmen Scheibenbogen and Jonas Bergquist.

Apigenin can be found in chamomile and parsley.
