Best 'gentle' alarm clock?

I'm about to try to tackle my poor sleep again, and am looking (again!) for an alarm clock that will wake me up gently with a gradually louder alarm rather than something immediately loud. I hate waking up with a massive surge of adrenalin.

I have a gradually illuminating sunrise alarm clock that totally fails to wake me up. I don't have a smartphone so can' t use an app (for those that do, I gather that the Sleep Cycle app, even the free version, is excellent). There's an alarm clock called the Mudita Harmony that has gradually louder lovely sounds but that requires fairly frequent recharging, so I don't want that annoyance and it's very, very expensive.

My ideal would be gradually louder forest/river/nature sounds, on a simple, battery- or mains-powered clock, that's simple to operate.

Is anyone aware of such a thing?

Yes, they do exist—search for a clock with a crescendo alarm function.
