We present here an overview of reports addressing studies of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), with consideration of results from studies of the epidemiology of this pathology in childhood and adults. The features of clinical manifestations of CFS in childhood and its family aspects are described. Special attention is paid to description of the main cognitive impairments characteristic of CFS in children. Results from research seeking effective approaches to the treatment of CFS in children are considered.

There's an overview of various popular concepts including "neuroinflammation" and "dysfunction of the HPA axis". Recommends CBT & GET & also a very Russian treatment strategy, the use of nootropics:

Patients with post-COVID syndrome given Cogitum showed significant positive changes and regression of most symptoms of post-COVID asthenic syndrome as compared with the control group [53]. Cogitum has been shown to have high efficacy in the treatment of post-traumatic and post-infectious asthenic disorders. In particular, after treatment, 80% of patients showed significant improve- ments in the form of increased accuracy in the Bourdon test, along with improved memorization [54]. Improvements in memory and attention after the use of Cogitum were noted by Goryunova et al. and Bobylova [55, 56]

Our previous study demonstrated that use of Cogitum led to significant improvements in the condition of chil- dren with organic asthenia. Assessing the condition after treatment revealed statistically significant decreases in the manifestations of asthenia in 78% of children. Significant improvements in attention and memory were also noted.
