Edna Adan Ismail - Amazingly Inspirational Lady

I heard the first half of Desert Island Discs this morning on my way to work, and this 80 year old lady is incredibly inspirational. She comes from Somaliland, is the daughter of a doctor, and was a nurse and midwife - pioneering and revolutionary in its day in her homeland. She speaks of respect for patients. She suffered the appalling brutality of FGM at the age of 8. She dreamt of and achieved the founding of her own hospital. Wonderfully positive person.
