"Well the latest results of the ONS Covid Winter Infection Survey are in and they are, frankly, eye-popping. The estimated prevalence (percentage of infected people) in England as of a week ago (4.3%) is already as high as the Covid wave last December and rapidly approaching the peak of the July 2022 wave (5.8%). Given this wave has only just started (for instance subvariant JN.1 is only just reaching dominance) and that we are heading into Christmas, this wave has a lot of potential to grow significantly bigger.

Combined with the latest hospital admissions numbers and continuing strain on the NHS, this is bad news."

So.....basically that might translate to almost 1 in 4 people I may encounter whilst outside being ready, willing, and able to give me covid.

However, at any one time at least 80%, and probably many more than that, of people are not outside to be meetable by me.

So that possibly equates to over 100% of those I encounter being ready, willing (or else they'd be masking, making sure that they are at least 3m away, etc.), and able to give me covid.

    Basically, stay inside or......

Also, probably time to fit a 3m thick ho ho ho proof barrier around the fireplace.

Fortunately, Covid is not transmissible online.
Because I now have it for the fourth time.
Cough, nausea, delirium and two red stripes on the test strip.

    Have a quiet Christmas everyone.

It sounds especially gruesome this time round. I hope it's one of the sideswiped-today-but-gone-in-48 hours variants.
