Abstract
Histamine intolerance, also referred to as enteral histaminosis or sensitivity to dietary histamine, is a disorder associated with an impaired ability to metabolize ingested histamine that was described at the beginning of the 21st century. Although interest in histamine intolerance has considerably grown in recent years, more scientific evidence is still required to help define, diagnose and clinically manage this condition. This article will provide an updated review on histamine intolerance, mainly focusing on its etiology and the existing diagnostic and treatment strategies. In this work, a glance on histamine intoxication will also be provided, as well as the analysis of some uncertainties historically associated to histamine intoxication outbreaks that may be better explained by the existence of interindividual susceptibility to ingested histamine.

Found this when looking up histamine intolerance (as someone I know has been telling me I should see their specialist for histamine intolerance in case that’s what I need …and I’ve been reluctant to do all that work for another bit of hocum).
Today I am having a bad flare of symptoms that might possibly fit this idea so thanks for putting this review here.
Sprouted legumes seems like a quite doable thing to try in my life (no long trips to town, no appointments for skin pricks, no extensive diet change which isn’t even a consistent selection, and no pigs involved). I wonder if it’s likely that home sprouted quantities would produce meaningful amounts of DAO. I would of course use clean boiled and cooled water for the sprouting in the dark and frequent changes (trying to avoid producing surface fermentation which might make histamine). If sprouted beans/peas etc seem to coincide with good things it will make it seem worth the bother of looking into it a bit more. And, if not, it’s all good food.
Or, when feeling better tomorrow I might find that it’s a dumb idea. Will see
