The NewScientist magazine of 6 April 2019 contains the following two articles on psychosomatic / somatoform illnesses:

It’s time to change our approach to 'psychosomatic' illness
Doctors have started making sense of a group of mystery conditions where people experience symptoms, but medical tests suggest nothing is physically wrong.

The illnesses caused by a disconnect between brain and mind
A group of troubling disorders lead to very real symptoms, but tests suggest nothing is wrong. Finding out why is shedding new light on the nature of consciousness itself.

I just wonder if anyone has a subscription to the NewScientist and could summarize these articles.

Until evidence to the contrary appears, we should perhaps absolve the writer from responsibility for the belief in a disconnect between brain and mind. It would however be interesting to know the beliefs of the editor on this question.
