Not exactly new news but I was using some Turmeric today and was reminded that I had read about contamination previously. And because I consider this issue larger than just Turmeric. I call it the lamppost problem. We are bombarded with 'good news' info on so many ingested substances that suggest many lovely benefits (that may even be true) but what we don't always consider is this other aspect. So we end up looking into the light at all the 'good news' never seeing what might be hidden in dark corners. Our food is all big business these days. And that means all manner of things can be going on with what we consume. I think this is worth remembering. https://phys.org/news/2019-09-turmeric.html
Of course, turmeric is used as a supplement, or an ingredient in supplements. It seems we can't look to anywhere now days that is toxin free - maybe we never could. There is a very long list of bizarre, unhealthy chemicals, and other toxins in everyday products: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/b...nd-bruce-lourie-with-sarah-dopp/9780307374011
