Solve M.E. is partnering with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center to issue an ME/CFS-specific funding announcement through their Annual Health Pilot Program. This is an opportunity to engage a research network that has successfully funded a range of bench, pre-clinical, clinical and public health research into issues that uniquely impact women. They have a demonstrated record obtaining large National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants as follow-on to the pilot projects – approximately $27 million return on investment for $1 million invested.

Solve ME/Iris Cantor-UCLA for Women's Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Research

The Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center/UCLA National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health seeks to promote comprehensive health care for women by providing support for research to understand human sex differences in health and disease and medical issues and diseases unique to women, as well as to develop and test clinical interventions for women. An equally important component of the Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center/UCLA National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health mission is training future leaders in women’s health research.

Attached is the RFA for the funding of pilot studies for women’s health research and/or research related to the etiology or treatment of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). The award is for one year of funding up to $45,000. If applying, please submit a one-page letter-of-intent as a PDF. Pilot funding is available for UCLA researchers, including all researchers at the UCLA Westwood and Santa Monica Campuses in DGSOM and UCLA College, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA BioMed at Harbor-UCLA and Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, who perform research related to disease processes that influence or are influenced by metabolic syndrome. Pilots may include basic or clinical/translational studies.
