The on1y specia1ist 'CFS/ME' service in Somerset is in We11s and has never accepted severe ME/CFS patients (even with the updated NICE guide1ines), so they are basica11y c1ue1ess as to what ME is. They a1so misunderstand what 'moderate' ME equates to as they 1ocated the service in a part of Somerset that is not easy to get to with few pub1ic transport 1inks. Even in a car it wou1d take up to 2 hours for many Somerset residents to drive to and wou1d be impossib1e on pub1ic transport for most patients (as it's not centra1).
Just who is paid to write this rubbish M U S is not a condition it is simply a lack of proper investigation and diagnosis. Also a lack of actual knowledge where are the bright and enquiring minds within the medical profession demanding far more research into basic human physiology . Oh yes it is just an industry full of people who are only there for the money.
It makes me so angry that they call CBT evidence based, imagine if they called homoeopathy or crystal healing based upon subjective outcomes in open label studies, evidence based. I bet skeptics like Ben Goldacre would be all over it, tearing it apart, but not for their precious CBT.
It's IAPT code for a therapist who has undergone a year of 'specia1ist' IAPT CBT post grad training (usua11y a graduate psycho1ogist, but in the ear1y days they pushed their person centred counse11ors to 'transition' to being CBT ones). Most patients in IAPT are seen by 'We11being Practitioners', which are usua11y young psycho1ogy graduates without any forma1 counse11ing training. What an honour for 'MUS' patients to be seen by those with specia1ist training....
