Research must test combinations of drugs to tackle different underlying biological issues at the same time.

Umm sort of underwhelmed by this article. How about we find one thing that sort of/mostly works before we do combos?

Author is clearly a viral persistence guy. He also posts a ton of stuff on X.

We don’t really know what’s going wrong in Long COVID yet. How could we have one drug, let alone many to make a combination therapy?!
This appears to be a popular fallacy these days, the jump to trials. It doesn't matter that 99% of trials based on such an approach, randomly trying something, are a complete waste. There's this idea of RCTs being the only valid form of evidence, despite being one of the absolute worst forms of evidence in all the professions.

This is why RECOVER is wasting half a billion on trials, almost all of which have no business even happening. It's thought as doing something, even if it's ultimately counterproductive.

If anything, if I had the power to influence things, there were would be far fewer trials, as in at least 90% less. This approach is the absolute worst combination of dreadfully, very expensive, and very low quality. They are only worth doing when a treatment actually works, and 99%-99.% of treatments tested fail, although that's mostly an artifact of most trials having no basis in the first place. But even then, even when the pathology is understood, the vast majority of treatment trials are a failure.

It's like digging for treasure completely randomly. It's hard to imagine a less useful way of doing anything.
