Cooking polyunsaturated fats at high heat also creates trans fats. We can get manufacturers to stop using them, but we also need to change cooking practices, including at fast food outlets and even restaurants.
Health Canada has banned artificial trans fat, making it illegal for manufacturers to add partially hydrogenated oils to foods sold in Canada. This ban is being phased in and as of September 2020 all artificially produced trans fat will be removed from the food supply. LINK I was under the assumption that most countries already did this.
