It is quite possible that that the criteria for CFS (and to a lesser extent ME) are not fit for purpose and do not adequately differentiate between CFS and other causes of fatigue meaning many cases of persistent fatigue, sleep issues and burnout are likely being mislabelled with CFS or ME...
I agree if we are not going to properly fund research until we know enough about it then how are we ever going get to the point where we know enough about it.
How does the funding work, if say they budget $100M are they committed to spending it all or could it just be earmarked as available should sufficiently high quality research proposals be received ? As it is nobody is going to propose a high quality $20M research study if there is no indication...
specialist services - (age 13 years: 9.28%; age 16 years: 16.43%)
CFS/ME in ALSPAC - (age 13 years: 3.72%; age 16 years: 5.46%)
non-CFS in ALSPAC - (age 13 years: 4.18%; age 16 years: 4.46%)
So in the general population there is no significant difference between ME/CFS and non-ME/CFS, only...
No credible scientist should have anything to do with Natural News

Yes it's obviously unlikely to happen any time soon but while any quack can get their research reviewed by like-minded quacks nothing much is going to improve.

I think you must be right 'Post-exertional (malaise and/or Fatigue)' given the context seems most likely what was intended.
So 'post-exertional malaise and/or fatigue and/or pain' should be interpreted as 'post-exertional (malaise and/or fatigue and/or pain)'.
Effectively saying at least one...
Honestly I'm having trouble thinking of anything that we do know for sure, we don't even have agreement on what it is or what the symptoms are, even hallmark symptoms like PEM are not always mandatory (eg Fukuda and CCC criteria)
If ME/CFS was a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle we probably have 50 of...

I'd add that to ensure unbiased review peer review should only be undertaken by peers who do not share the same allegiance as the authors.
Science-Based Medicine reviews afflicted, it's a bit of a mixed bag and makes no mention of Jamison or me/cfs
Afflicted and the Tragedy of Fake Illnesses
Afflicted is a documentary following the lives and treatments of people “diagnosed” with illnesses not recognized by science. Conversely, it...
Makes me wonder if the idea has been tried before to assist other groups of people like the elderly, perhaps we could learn some lessons from how it worked out for them. I've not found anything yet but it seems quite unlikely to me that something approximating this hasn't been attempted before...
Still the most excruciatingly frustrating thing is that is un-blinded patient report trials of homeopathy are widely known to be unreliable junk but at the same time un-blinded patient report trials of CBT/GET are standard practice robust trials with low risk of bias.
