Independent advisory group for the full update of the Cochrane review on exercise therapy and ME/CFS (2020), led by Hilda Bastian

They will find a recovered pwME to join the IAG? And they've also included the recent CDC evidence review in their analysis? Not sure how I feel about that.

    NICE ME/CFS guideline - draft published for consultation - 10th November 2020

Not sure about the rituximab study, but they did use actigraphy with the cyclo study. The team at Haukeland/University of Bergen did provide fitbit's for pwME some time ago for a study on activity levels, but I haven't seen the results from that.

Chronic fatigue syndrome: an emerging sequela in COVID-19 survivors?, 2021, Mantovani et al

Just a comment on the cognitive function. I did a modified WAIS test since I complained about lack of memory, low concentration etc. I don't remember the exact value, but if you scored above 60-80% of the "general public" for many of the domains they tested, that would classify as not being a...

Survey: what explanations GPs use for conditions that have no agreed biomedical cause and the impact of those explanations on social support & stigma.

I also didn't find the questions relevant for me, as I've found a good GP (and anyway haven't had symptoms that needed to be explained to me for a while). Did I change GP's due to the attitudes she is researching? Yup.

    Covid-19 vaccination experiences

I've been feeling better the last two weeks, my monthly step count has not been this high since last august. No idea if it's related to the vaccine though.

    News from Scandinavia

Another great piece on "basal exposure therapy" used in Norway to treat mental health conditions. Include common themes found in the ME/CFS debate, such as non-relevant comparisons to cancer or other conditions, evidence based medicine, studies that do not look at harms, general quality of...

Benefits of micronutrient supplementation on nutritional status, energy metabolism, and subjective wellbeing, 2021, Maggini et al

I don't see a contradiction with what I said :) I can just about meet the "required daily intake" for vitamin/minerals on ~1500 kcal when I'm housebound, but I have supplements of nutrients I struggle with when I'm low on appetite/in PEM. I did not have to think as much about including certain...

Benefits of micronutrient supplementation on nutritional status, energy metabolism, and subjective wellbeing, 2021, Maggini et al

I haven't read it (will do so later), but I don't see how any of this is a rationale for increased supplements instead of increased intake of food that contain these nutrient. Getting nutrients from food and supplements are not always the same.

    News from Scandinavia

An aticle at Forskning.no about Exercise Induced Laryngeal Obstruction (EILO), where some researchers in Norway have tested the hypothesis that anxiety/mental health issues can cause EILO. At this forum people may not be surprised that pwEILO did not have more anxiety than a comparison group :)...

..investigation of nutritional intake & supplement use in Australians with [ME/CFS] .. implications on health-related QOL, 2021, Weigel et al

I'd love that, preferably with information on both normal days and PEM. The "gold standard" for collecting dietary information is a food diary for three to seven days, which is burdensome and especially in PEM I'm not sure how feasible it would be. I know there are online tools that can be ued...

..investigation of nutritional intake & supplement use in Australians with [ME/CFS] .. implications on health-related QOL, 2021, Weigel et al

Thanks for posting Andy. I sort of wanted to stop reading at 24 participants, but... Sigh. I don't think this tells us a lot. The pwME, based on the summary tables in the article, seem to include more healthy foods in their diet than the comparison group, but also more supplements (I would...

Endothelial Senescence and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a COVID-19 Based Hypothesis, 2021, Sfera et al

These potential barrier dysfunctions are discussed in a number of diseases, not just ME. So is LPS translocation, gut dysbiosis etc.

Endothelial Senescence and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a COVID-19 Based Hypothesis, 2021, Sfera et al

So now we all should up our vitamin D levels, increase our colorful vegetable intake and start eating fermented foods to improve our gut endothelium, to possibly reduce endothelium barrier disruptors that cross into the bloodstream and disrupt the blood-brain barrier? I'm in favor of...
